Soap - Mitchell's Wool Fat
Brush - The Canuck
Post - Alum
Day two with the LC and Sharp Star. Mitchell's still up since I'm trying to determine the soap usage, or lack thereof, since it didn't change weight yesterday. I chose the Canuck brush, which has the SynBad Flattop knot. Really worked up a good load in the brush then went for the face lather as usual. Fantastic lather that really popped and was super slick. One issue with this shave - I was talking to my wife during it and gestured with my right hand while shaving with my left on my neck just under my chin. Guess I lost concentration or proved my stupidity because as I gestured to the right with my right hand my left hand followed along - sliding the blade horizontally across my throat. I felt that one. Fortunately it didn't really bleed much but the alum really lit that one up. A cut about as long as the blade as I moved that thing a lot. Straight sideways. I'm really, really, really, really glad it was the New LC and not something like the 1918, Wunderbar or, dare I mention it, a pain stick.
Anyway, the alum sealed it up easily enough and the burn has subsided. I'll stop trying to talk and shave at the same time. Now for the soap conundrum. Yesterday the puck started at 299 and ended at 299. Figured it picked up a bit of water from the brush. Figured it would start dropping today. Here are the numbers from today.
Pre-shave - 299 grams
Post-shave - 299 grams
Yeah, no difference AGAIN. I'm beginning to think there's some wizardry at work here but I'll stick with it. It is possible, I suppose, that I'm simply adding in enough water from the brush to make up for the soap used. At some point, though, it has to stop balancing out. I'll keep after it.
Hope you had a great Saturday! Have an even better Sunday!
