  7. Thanks Bill for your input! The Eric Latta move is the most difficult move to master, but it can be done. For me, it is the only way that I can get a BBS shave with a straight or a shavette.

    Razor: PAA Ascension Twist CU
    Blade: Gillette Winner (3)
    Brush: 30DCLEV1.*
    Pre-shave: Stirling Mentholated
    Soap: SC Fortitude
    PAA Galactic witch hazel
    PAA unscented Star Jelly
    AS: SC Fortitude

    Tobacco Tuesday

    Good morning!

Awesome shave to start the day! Three passes for near BBS. Silent alum.

Fortitude is one of the favorite scents, combined with Soap Commander performance, yup, awesome!

The Gillette Winner blade has served its tour admirably. Three and out so the Ascension will also get a rest. Wonderful smooth razor! I have a few more open comb razors so the Ascension should make a return appearance this month.

    Have a great day! [IMG]

As if we don't have enough drama at work given the tax deadlines next week, we are changing phone providers and the phone system this morning. If you guessed I would be one of the primary contacts, you would be right. I just hope it goes smoothly. At least it I was able to get in a very nice relaxing shave before the work day starts. Since the WSP soap tins are so small, I try to use smaller brushes. Even with smaller brushes a lot of soap ends up on my hands. I just wipe it on my face before face lathering. It's not a real problem but it is a little messy. The WSP soaps are easy to lather and very slick. Three passes and touch ups ended with the baby in hand. A splash of Antesol and a spritz of Habit Rouge and I think I am ready for the day. I hope everyone has a great Tuesday.

  12. Great Tuesday morning and good morning to all.
Tried out another razor thats a twin of another I have. Used both with a half feather blade each. Got a good shave, 3 passes on the face, 2 on the gord. Not as smooth as the RR Black hawk but these two RR Starlings do ok with a new Feather blade.
Seeimg as the soap/lather thing's been brought up I tried sonthing different. I did not wet the brush, I just dipped the tip of it in to the water and then loaded it. I probably dipped it 3 times during the load cycle. This caysed the brush to load heavy and thick. Dipping it more to thin out the lather gave me wonderful smooth lather. I believe soaking or even getting a synthetic brush wet before loading the soap is unnecessary. Just dip the tip before loading it is all that's needed.
More on that as I try it.

I hope the phone provider swap goes smoothly.
    Great report, Terry!
I'll have to try that method of loading my synthetic brushes. I'm a wet the knot, squeeze then flick.

  16. SOTD October 8, 2019

Prep: Cold water and Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap
    Blade: Personna
    Razor: PAL Injectomatic
    Brush: JR #60 synthetic
    Soap: Mitchell's Wool Fat
Post: Witch hazel, Jeeves of Hudson Street Tobacco Bay Leaf aftershave

Nice Fat shave this morning. You have to watch the angle of the PAL razors as they operate differently than the Schick injectors. Pretty smooth results all around. @Linuxguile mentioned using synthetics with The Fat and I thought I'd join in. No issues. Terrific, beautiful lather. With that said, Fat lather does look a little different than other soaps as far as consistency and texture. Fat lather can look airy or puffy, but I've always found that regular face lathering with small additions of water work out the airy look and turn it into creamy, luscious lather.

    Enjoy your day!

  18. Terry, I normally don't wet my synthetic brushes either. I'll hydrate the top of the soap and then start loading with a dry synthetic brush. Drip in water or dip the tips and keep loading. That has always worked for me with synthetics. I do not follow that method with badgers and boars.
