2019-10-17, Thursday This is the second time I use this soap and, rereading my first impressions, I noticed that they were very different from those of today: the fragrance is not one that I particularly like, even if it is not bad to may big and sensible nose. The performance, on the other hand, was excellent. Using a 'Finest' instead of a 'Silvetip' made the difference? The lathering was effective and satisfactory and the shaving definitely good. Words but no shave pictures. Razor: Merkur 500 (#2) Blade: Treet Platinum (#3) Soap: Molton Brown Brush: Yaqi Synth. No pictures of the gear today. I am not sure i have much sympathy for this razor. I find it heavy, hard to grip, hard to see the numbers and a bit uncouth. Yesterdays shave on minimum was replaced with a trip to #2 (#1.5 was monday) and i think that is a better setting for me. Two passes and some fumbling around and then out the gap. I haven't had much use of the soap but i do like it. A lovely scent and a really nice, thick opulent lather is very forthcoming. No issues with slickness or loading either, although i suspect i may have under hydrated it a little. Finished with W/Hazel and then a spray of Paco EDT: *Library image A decent shave overall. No real soreness and close enough.
Here was this morning's "Throwback Thursday" shower: Bodywash-Nivea 4 Men (Maximum Hydration) Deodorant Soap-Coast -"The Eye Opener"(Classic Scent) Shampoo-Clubman Country Club(1830)* Deodorant(post-shave)Mennen Speedstick Original. *I still say Clubman should list the year 1830 to replace 1810. What happened in 1810 was that Edouard Pinaud was BORN, not that he created his men's grooming line, the latter of which he did at age 20(thus, 1830).
It’s bloody pouring here today! Thursday morning: Razorock Plissoft 26mm Monster Super Speed/Rapira day 4 Vitos SS Fino ASB Proraso Red AS Splash This Vitos soap which I received on Tuesday is very nice - it has a mild, but pleasant almond scent with a marzipan note, not at all like the raw almond scent from Cella. It gives great lather with lots of slickness and a very comfortable postshave feeling. The Fino balm felt so soothing as well as moisturizing, and do I ever love the scent of the Proraso Red aftershave. Three passes delivered such a super-duper BBS shave!
