    OCtober with the FAT

    October 17

Razor - Gem Micromatic Open Comb
Blade - CVS Carbon Steel SE (2)
Soap - Stirling Electric Sheep [IMG]
    Brush -The Canuck
    Post - Alum

Back to shaving tonight and let me tell you - if you ever had a cold, bronchitis or anything else that has you a bit congested, may I suggest using tonight's soap! The Electric Sheep had me doubled over hacking up the remains of the bronchial debris I've been harboring. That menthol/citronella/eucalyptus is some POWERFUL stuff!! It's also great to shave with and the mutton tallow can't be beat!! It did take me a minute to get my coughing under control and after that I just breathed through my nose for the shave. Good stuff! Didn't know it was medicinal too!!

The OCMM and carbon blade did a fantastic job on two days growth. Three passes and it was all gone for good. The Canuck brush with the flat top SynBad was awesome as well. I feel more like myself now and I'm ready to move on to Friday! Hope you have a great one!!

Nice Shave. One Blade Core, IMO, looks cooler than the stainless steel upscale version.

I am continuing to explore the range on this Merkur 500. I notched it up to half way today (2.5). My comments about it yesterday still resonate, it is heavy and cumbersome and slippery and poorly balanced (IMHO obv.). I am beginning to feel the blade on this setting so a light touch and care and attention is a must. The blade is still functional which i am impressed with as i thought these Treet blades were supposed to be pish.
The soap is nice. 1 shave isn't enough to get a proper feel for it but it lathers easily and has decent slickness and cushion although i felt it a tad drying at the end of the pass. Probably user error in not giving it enough water but i will chuck it into a full 1-blade shave run to see how it really feels. DFS+ today and a really smooth shave. The TOBS finished it off lovely with little to no AS burn.
    Shave-on!

The Rockwell Jet Black was smooth and efficient. I'm not wondering if the coating gives just a little more gap.[IMG][IMG]

The soap I tried today is a gift from a friend.
The name puzzled me: Celestial Farms. More than a soap maker, it seemed to me the name of a funeral parlor and this puzzled me about the INCI, but ... alles in ordnung!

It is a vegetable / tallow blend. Rather small a puck and difficult to load if it was in a bowl, but I used it as a stick.
Skin was not wet enough and difficult to spread: I should have left it to soak on a layer of water.
It does not explode in lather, but it is very smooth and the fact that the skin was visible under it makes it suitable for those who wear beards or mustaches.

Fragrance is not bad, but bergamot is not noticeable and I do not know what bamboo smells like: have you ever smelled it?

Yea, sticking to one set can be a PITA, but it is certainly a learning curve and can be very beneficial. I noticed your nicks/cuts comments decrease as the days passed by.
So, what next? The Rocket! ooh, that thing is a bit more enthusiastic than the 34c, but you never know, it may really suit you.
Are you going to try another soap or finish the Proraso off?

Perhaps try one of those blades i sent you in the 34c? Ooh, the places we can go lol.
