OCtober OC - attempt
Col Conk - Bay Rum
Stirling Tuxedo
Gillette New Short Comb (Feather on 5)
Parker Variant {5} (Dorco on 3)
Focus Slim Al R28 (GSB on 5)
Yesterdays shave was supposed to be an easy and lazy 2 pass WTG affair.
Not so.
I chose the Colonel because you can always puff an easy spume of lather... almost. Col Conk is the Max Headroom approved low investment shave soap. I usually am not a Bay Rum fan, but this is sweeter, less spicy than others I've tried. Good for me.
In order to remain open minded I tried some of the best lathering methods put forth by the AridSoapSymposium. Wetting the brush tips and swirling was way too much work. Adding a little water did the trick..... well, maybe a lot of water. Bingo, problem solved.
In keeping with the crowd the Short Comb was to make Short Work of the stubble. Not so. Feather on 5 used to be fine. I could have worked my way through it, but nah.
Grabbed the Parker Variant set it to 5 and went at it for the Dorco blade's third outing. Still, too much work.
Grabbed the Focus R28 all aluminum edge forward professional barbering tool for the unplanned 3rd and ATG pass. The GSB on 5 pulled it off. I usually stop at 4.
Finished up over achieving my goals with the Proraso Menthol AS lotion. A soothing concoction that reminds me a little of a Green Irish Tweed dupe I've used, but lighter, and no deep hanging remains.
So 3 blades conked out and binned. Think I'll hit the stones and strops today with one of my straights and see if I can duplicate that new edge I'm liking.
Shave well, shave free.
