Thanks! I was quite surprised when it arrived, i only expected to get the razor and the blades in the red cardboard thing.
@hins2jw0 here is what the blade looks like. Added bonus those cut outs make these blades compatible with Gibbs razors. I'll being giving the blades a go sometime this week in some of my most blood thirsty razors, you know the ones that you break out in cuts just looking at them they are that sharp.
Wow really cool. I don't own a Gibbs but good to know in case I ever acquire a nice one! Looking forward to the review Sent from my LYA-L29 using Tapatalk
Here's my SOTD, which coincidentally has most of my latest acquisitions. -Wild West Brushworks ebonite handle w/ Declaration B6 knot. This was my first ever Declaration, and it's beyond luxurious. I practically picked it up for a song. -Hand stitched dopp bag that I made, which turned out fantastic. IMO it's one of the nicest pieces I've put out so far. I do actually accept commissions for these, if anyone happens to be interested. -Gillette Toggle- really pumped to finally get my hands on one of these, since I got into this hobby I've wanted one and I finally managed to find it for a reasonable price. It's a fantastic shaver too, which is nice.
You could eventually wind up owning mine since I don't see this razor as a N.F.S. (not for sale) piece. It is fairly easy to modify a blade for a Gibbs though with a heavy duty paper hole punch.
You make those Dopp bags?? Looks great. Any other photos? Thanks for making me desire something else lol Sent from my LYA-L29 using Tapatalk
Thank you!! Start to finish this piece took me roughly nine hours. I saddle stitch all of my pieces and use a very strong poly thread (ritza tiger), so the resulting stitch is practically bulletproof haha. The brass zipper is YKK, it's pretty satisfying to unzip. I like nicely made things, so I try not to skimp out where materials and construction are concerned.
Yesterday I received a package from the Holy Black with their new Black Magic set. They did a nice job and I can't wait to try it. I'm waiting for Saturday and a new razor that will come in the next couple of days. Steve
Thank you Gary. I was able to get a light whiff of the EDP and soap. Both my son and I thought the fragrance smelled nice, but I'll need to dive in and get lathered up and wear the AS & EDP to really get a feel for it. I'm a sucker for this kind of thing but enjoy the themed fun. Steve
Really cool... Still haven't tried Williams. I need to get a puck at some point Sent from my LYA-L29 using Tapatalk
Might I suggest you try Modern Williams first? Then when you come across some vintage you'll be pleasantly surprised.
Apples and oranges. The product has been reformulated a couple of times. The very oldest I've tried is my preference. I found most of a shave stick, foil wrapped, in a dark brown tube with no cap. It is so dry I can slice it thin and I get powder. Lathers great, a slightly soapy scent, and all those great qualities most folks seek in a shave soap. I've also used the Modern product available from many purveyors. It's slick, but difficult to raise and hold a butter cream style lather. Tends to go clear on the face if you don't shave fast. Considering the price the new formula will do the job you'd expect. Think ARKO, but without the skin drying effect, or scent, or lather.
Not enough soap (and perhaps a bad brush?). Don't bloom Williams if you are having trouble. A synthetic brush fresh out of HOT water and only a simple flick will get you loaded quickly as long as you don't mash the brush and get P.L.S. YMMV obv.
