One of a pair of 6/8 CVH No 130, cream was D. R. Harris lavender lathered with a Simpsons 59, and a splash of Thayer’s lavender finished things off. The shave was close and comfortable, but the razor wasn’t as smooth as it should be, so these are headed for the rocks for a touch up.

 

Tonight's shave was with a wonderful German made razor. I had a very nice 2 pass shave, that left me smooth as silk. Great shaving razor, and very well made.

Razor- F.W.Engels "Special". Solingen Germany.
Brush- Omega 10098 Boar
Soap- Pinaud Clubman. Smells nothing like the aftershave. Great lather, Blahhhhh smell.
Aftershave- Pinaud Clubman

#49 Herder, 15/16, with custom Kirinite scales by J.R. Rowe/California

 

5/8 Le Grelot 355 Sheffield Steel worked spine, cream was Christian Dior Eau Sauvage lathered with a Keyhole 3, and a bit of Dior balm finished up. Good way to brighten up a grey morning! The razor is stamped 5/8, but it’s an old school 5/8 measured to the shoulder of the hollow, the actual width these days would be a generous 11/16. It’s very hollow, maneuvers like a sports car and shaves like a dream.

 

Eau Sauvage is one of my favorites. How does the cream perform?

 

The scales look great on that razor. The keys on the tang remind me of the Papal symbol.

 

Pretty well, it’s comparable to a high end English cream like Truefitt and Hill. It isn’t quite in the same class as Castle Forbes or the pricey Italian creams, but you’ll have no complaints with the performance and the fragrance is pretty true.

 

So many beautiful details with that razor. Just an amazing razor.

 

it’s a looker for sure. The scales are plastic and a little warped, and I never liked the black wedge showing through. I’ve got a set of vintage ivory scaled robbed off a ruined Joseph Rodgers re-grind that may end up on it. It wouldn’t be true to the razor’s period, but it would be a very nice combo regardless.

 

Gorgeous French Blade . Hard to find razor Today with that level of quality .
