I have two silver plated double ring Old Types that date to 1905. Both are in great shape and cleaned up beautifully for the most part. I've done dawn, whitening toothpaste, three baths in boiling water with baking soda. This removed all the tarnish and both razors cleaned up except for some stubborn stains on the handles. I've tried just about everything. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Are they stained or has the plating just worn in spots? Just a thought.

A white vinegar soak might help.

Some Silver Cleaner/Polish might do the trick.

If it is Silver Plated, I like using Goddards over Flitz.

Thanks, Guys! Already used Flitz. Don’t have Goddards. Will try the White Vinegar soak and Goddards. Thanks, again!

I have had success with this oven top cleaner on tough stains and use it on a lot of razors(you might have to try a few times). I would not recommend it on gold coating but for brass and Nickel and Chrome it works well and more than likely you have it in the house. They also make a brass cleaner also for polishing.(more than likely the same stuff.)

Why not use aluminum foil and baking soda?

Using the ProtectaClear or other protective coating is entirely optional. To the best of my knowledge, most wetshavers do not use an anti-tarnish coating.

Thanks, already did that. I finally removed the stains using Weiman's Silver Polish.

Ive tried aluminum foil/baking soda, several times, and it's a nifty gimmick. But, in the end, it does not work as well as a high quality silver polish. Plus, the silver polish is easier, cleans better, and is more consistent.
