  1. Tuesday morning:

    Razorock Plissoft 26mm Monster
    Super Speed/7 AM day 3
    Bundubeard Rooibos SS
    Nord Ost ASB
    Brut AS Splash

This 7 AM blade seems to be a little sharper than the previous one I used so hopefully it’ll last through the week. The Rooibos soap delivered a boatload of huge, THICK, RICH lather with lots of slickness and moisturizing, as well as its beautiful scent. The Nord Ost balm from Russia is intensely soothing, it has a nice, mild scent, and a pleasant cooling sensation. The Brut aftershave stung like hell for two seconds but then it felt cool and very comfortable. Three passes de-stubbled me and left me as smooth as silk![IMG]

  7. SOTD 9 November, 2019

Time to start running through several Stirling samples I've picked up in the past month... so here we go!

    Pre-shave: hot shower and towel
    Razor: Merkur 34C HD
    Blade: Voskhod (#1)
Bowl: Fine Accoutrements Ceramic Lather Bowl
    Soap: Stirling Arkadia
    Aftershave: Stirling Arkadia Splash

I simply had to replace the Voskhod after #4 yesterday - it seems to have gotten somewhat tuggy, and this is the second Voskhod that I've had do this. Not sure if it's the particular pack I'm using or what, but these Voskhods are acting like Feathers...

Lovely shave this time, though, with a new Voskhod blade and crazy-good Stirling soap. 20 seconds of loading on the puck was more than sufficient (I could have done four or five passes with what I got). Slick, dense, wonderful lather. What a lovely fragrance, too! I was pretty sure from the description I'd love it, but after shaving with it this morning I'm all the more sold. I'm fearful of the other 7 samples I've gotten what they may do to my wallet.

For all those who have served in the US military, my deepest thanks for your service. Happy Veteran's Day. For those in the UK and the greater Commonwealth, I honor with you those who gave of their lives so that others may be safe and free.

Today is the second of my first-go-arounds with Stirling samples I picked up recently. Baker Street gets the nod, and I now have two scents I think I may just have to buy full versions of... two for two. Six more to go. As I said Saturday I may be in trouble if this keeps up :)

    Pre-shave: hot shower and towel
    Razor: Merkur 34C HD
    Blade: Voskhod (#3)
Bowl: Fine Accoutrements Ceramic Lathering Bowl
    Soap: Stirling Baker Street
    Aftershave: Stirling Baker Street Splash

For those looking for a good lathering bowl, the Fine Accoutrements Ceramic bowl really is a nice, sturdy, easy to hold bowl, which helps build a lather quickly and efficiently. I've loved using it, and at $25 or less, it's well, well worth the money.

As for the scent of the Baker Street, this is another clean, fresh winner - apparently (and I'm unaware of the backstory) this is a resurrection of a venerable old scent, Strop Shoppe's Baker Street... and it's a wonderful jasmine/juniper/bergamot combo that I'm quite enamored with.

A deep forest walk in the Smoky Mountains in the late fall. That is EXACTLY what comes to mind with the scent of this wonderful soap from Stirling. The cedar, lichen, balsam, and sage are prominent to my nose anyway - what a beautiful combination.

Day 3 of my tour of 8 samples I picked up last week: Gatlinburg. As usual, a creamy, protective lather was easily built in my bowl after 20 seconds of loading on the sample puck (which no doubt will last me many, many shaves. A 1 ounce sample is well worth the $3.25 you'll spend to try out this excellent soap.

    Pre-shave: hot shower and towel
    Razor: Merkur 34D HC
    Blade: Voskhod (#4)
    Brush: Omega Pro 49
Bowl: Fine Accoutrements Ceramic Lather Bowl
    Soap: Stirling Gatlinburg
    Aftershave: Stirling Gatlinburg Splash

Yet another one I am going to want to add to my permanent collection - this one may be the first I go full size on. What a great scent.
