Y'know, actually they DID have a nice description on their website of the product I ordered...one of the Bay Rum soaps. You make some sense here, Joe. But I'm cutting down on samples. I'm more of a "clear description" man.
The thing about scent descriptions, Paul, is that everyone interprets them differently. For example Stirling Hipster smells nothing like the description on the website to me. When I read the description I thought it was going to be a coffee based scent but I don't smell any coffee in it. I do however, smell a lot of grapefruit. Which isn't specifically listed in the scent description at all. The only way to really know what something smells like is to smell it for yourself Sent from my Galaxy using Tapatalk
Andrew, I guess that's the bottom line of what the PAA team was saying. Your assessment is clearer to me.
It has been interesting to see how he has been able to change his persona and reputation on forums over the years.
Yes. At a certain point back in 2014 or early 2015 there was a lot of drama surrounding him. I can't recall the specifics.
While I agree that some of the write ups get creative, like J Peterman catalog from Seinfeld, they almost always have a pretty concise description of the scent. For example here is what they say about Home on the Range: Home On The Range is Inspired by the fragrance of firearms, and what comes along with them, gun cleaner with a pinch of gunpowder fragrance added just to give it that genuine scent in the room smell! And Tombstone: Scent Profile: Gunpowder, Leather, Tobacco, Geranium, Bergamot, White Rose In many cases they give a detailed description of what each of the individual scents smells like on the web site. Short of just saying what they have already said, what else could you say? At some point, if you want to know more about it, you need to get a sample to try it. They may have been a bit short, but I don't know that their response was necessarily wrong. I have actually had excellent customer service from them in the past. In once instance I had a bottle of AS break during shipment, they replaced the bottle with no questions asked. The very next shipment I got from them, two bottles leaked about a quarter of the juice. Once again, they replaced both bottles with no hastle. Honestly, I was worried they would question if I was scamming them a bit, but never a concern for them, at least not one they expressed to me.
