  1. I'm along the same line of thinking....except your reasons are mostly why I'm (just barely) keeping my MWF, for now.

    1. It is a pleasant scent, not polarizing, say like Arko or Clubman. May try the scent infusion....
    2. I have run into the weirdness with MWF and lathering (similar to what Andrew described, where it just didn't, or flattened)
    3. This is cosmetic...argh. Might have to grate it up like Clint did and see how it fares.

    1. It is a very awesome container! But...ya know....once the lid is on, going to be hard to tell if it's got MWF or Stirling or PAA or MdC or T&H or Castle Forbes or A&E or......
    2. For a classic, it knocks several other classics off the shelf
    3. See above #1s...

All this being said.....other classics outperform MWF both on aroma and slick performance. While the classic and nostalgic aspect of wet shaving is important to me, even back when there were good/better/best products. I like staying somewhere in the better/best category for most things, regardless of time period. Lastly, to me, there's a difference in a lather and a 'slick over nourishing seriously skin hydrating' lather. Classic products like ToBS, Proraso, T&H all fall into the better/best description with my lathering method, brushes, and water. Arko, Williams, not so much. MWF is in the better category, but the low end of the better category is slowly losing shelf space lately....

  6. Thanks, Charlie. I don't have a lot of room for shaving gear, but it's good to have a little bit of variety. :D

Today i decided to give the sworn enemy of wet shaving, canned goo a try again. I havent used this stuff since December, and i was actually surprised. Contrary to popular belief, this stuff is not terrible. I lathered it with a moist shaving brush( also my first ever brush from last year), and it provided a wonderfully slick shave, with decent post shave care. By no means does this stuff beat a good soap, but in a pinch id use it again, in fact i still have another can of supermax gel that i have to use up sooner or later too. I'll do a budget shave with the super max gel once i switch out the feather for a super max blade.

Even though the Nivea performed decently, nothing is replacing bundubeard or arko soon. The brush also shed about 20 hairs in this shave so the Dischem synthetics life has come to an end after a year. Not too bad for a 2 dollar brush lol.

Ive also switched back to classic aftershaves in the summer after a long run with prep balm, my skin is just too oily in summer for balms.

    Brush: Dischem synthetic
    Gel: Nivea extreme comfort
    Razor: Wilkinson sword tto
    Blade: feather hi-stainless
    Aftershave: Brut by Fabergé[IMG]

  12. That was a nice shave Dale!
  13. Thanks Doug!
  14. Fantastic shave, Daniel. You SOTD photos are :happy088::happy088::happy088:.
  15. Alabama awesome shave Perry! Have a great day.
  16. Nivea Gel should pass for goo. It's pretty thick, isn't it? Almost like soap itself.
  17. Broadcast conference....I wonder what that would entail.
  18. Some of the gels are actually good. Not straight out of the can, that wouldn't work at all, but when enough water is added they are decently slick.
    Great shave!
