  3. Menthol Monday Madness:

    Stirling Mentholated Pre-Shave Soap
    Razorock Plissoft 26mm Monster
    Super Speed/Minora day 2
Stirling Glacial Margaritas in the Arctic SS
    Stirling Glacial Unscented ASB
    B&M Arctique AS Splash

I can hardly feel my face after this menthol bombardment but I loved every minute of it. The mentholated pre-shave soap from Stirling has a great cooling sensation, it softens up the stubble beautifully, it leaves the skin immaculately clean, and it has that fantastic Stirling slickness. The Glacial MITA has triple the amount of menthol in it, the scent is identical to the regular MITA, (which is also very cold and citrusy scented) it lathers superbly although it’s kind of thirsty, and the freeze hits you HARD. The Glacial Unscented balm and the Arctique aftershave laid two more coats of icicles on my face. Three wonderful passes left me super BBS - these Minoras are fabulous!

    Have a good week![IMG]

    Cold Water Rinse
    Fine Snake Bite
    Jayaruh #41
    Schick 66 G-4
    Schick Proline
    CWR
    Osage Rub

My prep was just a cold water rinse. The Fine Snake Bite Shave Soap face lathered well with the Jayaruh #41 Badger Brush. I did two passes and a cleanup with the Schick 66 G-4 razor with a Schick Proline blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Osage Rub. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

  8. SOTD and Review, 18 November 2019

Another Stirling shave today, with their Agar soap and A/S. I'm still trying to determine whether I actually like this scent or not. In its drydown, it's getting more pleasant, but at first I was put off - by something that I'm not sure about just yet. A half hour out from my shave, I'm definitely getting very prominent notes of cedar, which I tend to like a great deal.

The soap performance, as always, is first rate. Very easy to build a protective and slick, yogurty lather, and achieve a close, pleasurable shave despite the blade used (see below).

While I'm not terribly interested in reviewing the blade I used today - I'll just remark here. Merkur Super, which came with the Merkur 34C HD as a freebie is worth every cent I spent for it. Don't waste your time if you want something sharper than a butter knife.

Pre-shave: hot shower and hot towel
    Razor: Merkur 34C HD
Blade: Merkur Super (#2 and last ever)
    Brush: Omega Pro 49
Bowl: Fine Accoutrements Ceramic Lather Bowl
    Soap: Stirling Agar
    A/S: Stirling Agar Splash

    Menthol Monday
Superb shave today. No drama, just close, comfortable, and chilly. A nice prep for parent teacher conferences.

    Rating: 5 / 5

    Razor: Rockwell 6s R6
    Blade: Voskhod
    Brush: Brothers Bristles Silver Surfer
    Pre-Shave: PAA Cube 2.0 Menthol
    Lather: B-M Reserve Cool
    Aftershave: B-M Reserve Cool
  13. Really like the DaVinci. Same 25mm as a BK 8 but heck of a lot denser. Soft tips and excellent flow through. DaVinci and LeonHardy IMHO lot better brush as they also high loft knots but a lot denser and do not flop. Work really well with soaps and creams. Can face lather with the later two.

  20. Friday NOvember 15

Yes, a little behind. No Repeat (mostly) NOvember. No repeats so far except for scuttle, blades, and alum. Up today is one of my favorite razors, my Kirby Beard 1942.

    Bowl/Scuttle - GP12
    Soap - Baum.BE
    Brush - Rubberset #3
    Blade - Gillette Platinum (5)
    Razor - Kirby Beard 1942
Post Shave - OSMA Pierre alum, Lilac Vegetal

    Shave rating 5 of 5

Another excellent 2 pass shave today. Might have been better than the shave yesterday with it's older sibling. And, this is still true: this razor might give me the best first pass of any of the DE razors I own when I've got 3 days or less growth. First time using the A/S - it smells ok, I'll have to ask my wife and kids what they think. The alum was slightly vocal again on my neck area.

Happy NOvember and great shaves everyone.
