Thanks, Jason. A month of only PAA? Hmm, maybe February. I would have to count them and I really avoid counting how much stuff I've accumulated. I don't want to know.
Monday NOvember 25 No Repeat (mostly) NOvember. No repeats so far except for scuttle, blades, and alum. Up today, one of my special straight razors, a Snail Forge Ottoman razor - a modern take on the rare Wade & Butcher Ottoman Egyptian razor made in the early 1890's. Bowl/Scuttle - GP12 Soap - HeV Cognac and Cuban Cigars Brush - Paladin PK47 Blade - n/a Razor - Snail Forge Ottoman Post Shave - OSMA Pierre alum, HeV Cognac and Cuban Cigars Balm Shave rating 4 of 5 I really like this razor. I think I messed up with the soap. The lather was over bubbly and kind of dry and caused a less than optimal shave. I did 2 passes, WTG and XTG, with my Ottoman razor but the lather was dry and the shave was just not good. So I cleaned off the Ottoman and put it away and did a third and final pass XTG with my Red Tip. That pass wasn't great either but the stubble was gone although my face hurt. The alum was a little more vocal that I like. The Cognac and Cuban Cigars balm soothed my face some. Happy NOvember and great shaves everyone. - Ken
Thank you Doug. We are having a wonderful weekend. My youngest came home for Thanksgiving which made things even better.
Tuesday NOvember 26 No Repeat (mostly) NOvember. No repeats so far except for scuttle, blades, and alum. Up today, my 1948 British Aristocrat #21. Bowl/Scuttle - GP12 Soap - Haslinger Schafmilch Brush - Brad Sears Blade - Gillette Platinum (9) Razor - Gillette British Aristocrat #21 (1948) Post Shave - OSMA Pierre alum, Floid A/S balm Shave rating 5 of 5 Needed a good easy shave today as my face still hurt a bit from my shave yesterday. The Schafmilch soap was the perfect soap for my situation - extra slick, moisturizing and I made sure not to goof up on the lather today. A 2 pass shave, WTG and XTG, with the #21 and I couldn't tell that yesterday's shave was a dud. This is a really good soap. The alum was a little vocal on my neck area but that was it. I thought the A/S balm would have a stronger scent that it does. Happy NOvember and great shaves everyone. - Ken
Nov 30th No Repeat SR Saturday Razor: Dovo Special Brush: Razorock Plisoft Barber 24 PS: Proraso SS & AS: Stirling Noir Well there you have it. My final shave of No Repeat November. I had fun going through all my soaps and razors. I'm sure I would have learned more with no variation but I did learn a little about technique and different razor and blade combos. It was fun, but I am excited for December when I can focus on a few of my favorites. Great shave with the straight razor today. No nicks or cuts this time. 3 passes with a little cleanup on my neck. Still need more practice on my neck, but its it's all part of the fun.
