Sorry about the subpar shave, Ken. If the soap was drying, then why didn't you add small increments of water so the blade glides easier? My other concern is that the razor may need to be refreshed. I have had lathers on the dry side and I was still able to get BBS shaves.
Kudos for an excellent straight razor shave, Evan! My first traditional straight razor was a Dovo Special. It is a nice looking razor and a great shaver.
NOVember 2019 November 30 Razor - 1960 (F4) Gillette Toggle Blade - Soap - Stirling Electric Sheep Brush - Jayaruh #54 Post - Alum Doesn't seem like it should be time yet, but here it is. November 30th and the final shave of my No-Repeat NOVember. I've had 26 shaves this month and have used a different razor, blade and soap for each one. I still have more to go but.....this one will end the month. I saved the Toggle to the final day and paired it with the Rapira Platinum Lux. Fine blade in a very fine razor. Add Stirling Electric Sheep for mutton tallow and let the JR#54 make the lather and you have a great shave to lead into Decadent December as well. It doesn't get much better than this. Three passes to a BBS with zero irritation that I can find...I'm a very happy camper. Thanks again to everyone for your great contributions this month!!! We have a few hours to go before officially taking off on Decadent December but it already looks like a great one shaping up. A warning to those who are newer around here. If you think it's busy in November, wait until December. We have broken records both of the past two Decembers so buckle in, hold on, and let 'er rip! Hope you all have a great Sunday tomorrow!
My no repeat razors. Again it was fun. FatBoy Fridays, except yesterday, and SR Saturdays. Tells me I have spent way too much on this hobby this year. I replated 7 of the 30 razors I used.
Congratulations on picking up the Toggle. I have one and I like how it shaves. That’s an good looking razor. Is it new?
