  7. They are similar but different. Straights don't tend to be quite as dangerous as shavettes. While I haven't done a lot of true straight shaves, I have done a couple of rules. That and listening to the gurus of straights taught me that I'm more likely to cut myself with a pain stick or other shavette than with a straight. You tend to get a warning just before a straight cuts. Kind of a tingle, and if you heed it you'll avoid bloodshed in most cases. As far as the actual feel, a lot of it will depend on the blade. With shavettes you have a standardized machine ground blade that is always super sharp but can be harsh. With straights you have hand honed edges that, while extremely sharp, are usually less "harsh" and can deliver super smooth results. That's my two cents worth. When the true experts sound off we'll see if my advice was worth the pennies.
  8. I'll see if I can find it. It was probably glycerin. And it seemed it was low 100's F.

Alcohol may drop surface tension and fool with a lather.

The Stirling ingredients are: Water, polysorbate, glycerin, menthol.

    Good morning!

Wonderful shave to start the day! Three passes for a face feeler with totally silent alum.

No theme this month. I'll focus on razors that haven't been used enough due to too many razors in the rotation.

    Have a great Sunday!
