Not gonna try to catch up from the weekend, either. Too much stuff to do today.

Had planned on a cookout tonight to celebrate a friend's birthday, but it looks like rain all day long. rrr At least I got some of the preliminary cooking done. Now for a bit of tidying up around the house. rrr rrr

 

I bet you're going insane by the end of the summer! I'd be too! Heck, before I started working part-time, by my 4th day off I'd be itching to get back to work! Camping sounds like fun, we really need to get out there and do some this summer....we keep saying we will, but then never do.... Where do your folks live? Do you guys get to a beach at all? That's my favorite summer vaca (haha...I just had to say it like that!) - chilling on a beach somewhere... :happy069

Corey - my blade maintenance is very minimal. I picked up a Tony Miller strop, just leather (no canvas or whatever) and strop my straight anywhere from 50-75 times....takes <5 minutes. I do think in a month or two, I'll wind up picking up either a canvas w/ paste, or a barbers hone, but we'll see how it goes....

JoAnna - I'm sorry, but the opportunity presented itself....:ashamed001 I hope it's not too bad...

 

1) I guess I am not stropping enough... and I am just using an auto-strop strop. I hope to be getting a full sized strop in near future.

2) I live about 15 minutes from Lake Michigan... Plenty of sand, sun, and water and lots of quality camping in the national and state park.

 

I've got an excellent wide strop I picked up from TSD store. One day, when things are a little more mellow, I'll grab one of the straights and give it a nice stropping and try again. It's one of those things I know I'd like to go back to, just not quite yet.

In unrelated news, my latest experiment (with some excellent pointers by omegapd) is a huge success.

Nice...how's the water? A bit cold, I'd imagine.... and not much wave action? Can you body-board or body surf?

I remember the Auto Strop strop I picked up for Calvin was pretty small, I expect it's fairly difficult to get a proper strop on it? I have a TM practice strop if you'd like to borrow that in the mean time... I've moved up to the "real" TM strop I have....not to say the practice isn't real, but it's not....as nice as the "real" one. Works just as well, though - it's latigo I believe, 2" or 2½" wide....

Yes it was....it was intended to inflame and "start a war"...

Not really. Basically, it was a thread created by one TSD member in order to call another TSD member nasty names. That's why it was deleted.

that's the last I saw, too. but it really didn't need to exist even at that point, since the whole point was to publicly name and shame.

 

Jim, you ever been to the moving picture show in Daingerfield?

We went and saw "Ghosts of Girlfriends Past" for 1.50 each.

It was probably one of the best versions of "A Christmas Carol" I've seen in a loooong time.

And before ya'll judge me for enjoying a "chick flick" I just want to point out a few things about this movie.

1. It stars Matthew McConaghey (Or however you spell his name) who is from big T, so it's like watching a hometown boy on the big screen.
