Two parcels came yesterday (there must be extra staffing for the Christmas rush), one containing this soap/splash and one very special parcel from Korea containing this replated Floating Head. What a stunner. Fits in with a Decadent focus, I think. Wasn’t sure when it would get here, but it made it from Seoul to my doorstep in 6 days. Amazing.
The soap and splash came via topofthechain, which I mention as I asked them to bring it in and they were able to. Jim and Jim are excellent PAA enablers, Joseph is a fantastic vintage Brut enabler, and Bill/Blair connected the dots between the two. I’ve probably missed a few other enabling kings as well.
I hadn’t shaved since Friday, so this was a full 72 hr growth. Whipped up a very nice lather. Face lathered after a healthy load and had plenty of good lather for 3 passes, with another pass or two left in the brush. Put this gorgeous shaver to my mug and ended up with a completely smooth result. Cotton ball test? No problem. I am quite irritated, though, and did give myself a weeper. A very rounded baseplate with this razor with very different geometry than the Gillettes I primarily use. Very, very different than a MonoBilt. It will take me a day or two to dial it in, but first thought is ‘awesome’.
The scent? I remember it now. Someone I remember wore this, just don’t recall who. Maybe my dad or Grandpa had some. I like it, but wasn’t wowed immediately. That’s ok, lots of other faves started out the same way after one use.
