Decadent December!!! December 2 Razor - 1960 (F4) Gillette Toggle Blade - (1) Soap - Stirling Christmas Eve Brush - I*V10 The Moreau Post - Alum After taking the 1st off from shaving it's time to jump in and get the ball rolling at Cartel HQ. Starting out with the Toggle and a Sharp Star. Rare American classic and Russian steel. Unbeatable combination. I know the soap chosen isn't one of the five I picked out but I felt it was appropriate to start the month of shaves. Stirling's Christmas Eve is an very nice soap with a scent that really adds to the shave. Along with the badger/boar knot in Mesquite - I don't know how much more decadent I can get. Three passes to a glorious BBS and no blood or other issues. Alum was quiet and that makes this one extremely decadent shave!! Enjoy your Tuesday!
I was a skeptic about synthetics too until I tried my first one. The SynBad in your brush is one of the best, if not the best out there. One benefit - no soaking required so it can speed things up. That and the very natural feel make it an awesome choice!
Nice shave, Neal! I have to wait until I finish my challenge to use my new Stirling's Christmas Eve soap. I have taken whiffs off the tub and it smells delightful.
Wow (blushing), Thank You for the kind words Joe! I (imho, from what seems posted) have a very meager collection compared to longer term straight razor users/collectors here at TSD (or other forums). Complete inventory is 12 traditional straights (includes 3 acquired but not in rotation yet), 6 kamisori style. Safety razors inventory is 4 SE style, 7 DE style, and 1 shavette. I have one SE 'in process' from Blackland (polished Vector). For the open edge options, 1 of the straights along with the shavette was purchased new from retailers, 3 from artisans, everything else a BST. Mostly BST, a couple PIFs for the safeties, except for the Blackland. Honestly, I'm ~99.9% done with razor acquisitions. I'll leave that door just barely open for an 'unobtanium/cool' purchase that comes around. The best part of the research/acquisition process is learning, but equally fun is the friendly enabling that comes from the incredible members of the 30DC via daily reports/reviews and incredible images. I've been mentored by the best! OTOH software....we shouldn't talk about software. I am officially a self diagnosed softwareaholic. I should commit to a 2020-2030 no buy....I'd likely still have left overs!
