I’ll set the knot tomorrow. I think this is going to work out great. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Well, I am a happy camper! Last week, someone hacked my ATM bank card and charged 400 dollars for some tech gadget on EBay. I got in touch with EBAy and my bank and although the money was taken out of my acct, it was credited back. At the same time, Neal, from Heritage Collection texts me if I still want the C-mon butterscotch and cream handle brush. I said yes, but I have to get a new card so can you hold it. He states only for a few days. This past Monday, he texts and says he has someone else who wants it now, and can wait a few more days for you. I said, give it to the guy because I don't want to hold a sale, and appreciated you holding it for me. Now, I get my card Tuesday, but I figure the brush is gone. I really wanted the boar instead of the badger. Tonight, for giggles, I went on the site, and I see it is still available. I jumped on it and said to heck with it, I will get the badger knot. It was meant to be. The reason I wanted this yellow and cream handle was that I have 2 vintage C-mon straights with yellow scales. Also, Neal said that he wasn't getting any more C-mon replica handles in that color. So, this is my Christmas gift to me. One more thing, this badger brush balances my selection. I will have 2 synthetics, 2 boars and 2 badgers. Here is a pic of the brush
Decadent December!!! December 7 Razor - 1946-47 Gillette Aristocrat Blade - (3) Soap - Stirling Ozark Mountain Brush - 30DC Meet-Up LE w/ TGN Silvertip Grade A Post - Alum A bit of a late Saturday, or at least later than I've been doing for awhile but it's finally done and the shave can commence. Third shave on the Aristocrat/Voskhod combination. Decadent Stirling Ozark Mountain for the soap, lathered by the 28mm Grade A Silvertip residing in a 30DC Meet-Up handle. This knot is breaking in fast and did an excellent job. Really nice, soft and luxurious feel with plenty of backbone. Three passes with the "Detente" setup and the baby is in the house and the alum was just a formality. Not even a hint of a twinge there. Pretty cool to realize how decadent this shave is using pretty "ordinary" gear. Aristocrats aren't rare, Stirling is still the best value soap in my opinion. The fanciest part - that awesome brush handle with a top of the line Silvertip. Still, not a high dollar event to put this one together. Hope you had a great Saturday! Enjoy your Sunday!!
Thanks, Gary! I originally wanted a boar knot. He told me that he was going to get boar knots within 2 weeks. I got back to him within that window and the brush was sold. Obviously, the buyer reneged on the brush and as they say, the rest is history. Unfortunately, I will not be using that brush until next year because I want to use it with my C-mon straights.
The Dovo special is decadent in my book. That’s a nice razor. I have Dovo in stainless and is a joy, easy to maintain.
Thanks Keith. I like my Dovo Special. It's been a great razor. I'm just looking forward to a little less maintenance with the Stainless Steel Inox.
