Thank you, Joseph! We purchased our tree, and set it up and I spent 20 minutes on a stepladder while the bride decided that the star was not level, nor straight up and down. What fun! Enjoy the rest of your Sunday! Ikm enjoying two fingers of Oban.
Thanks Terry. I’ve had it for a long time. Little intimidated. Got a decent shave but still need some time getting the angle right. Pretty cool using a 100 year old razor. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Thanks, Jeff! I should have it later in the week. The brush in the pic is not the actual brush but a decent replica. I am not planning on using it until the New Year.
Dec 8 Good evening guys! Traditional Straight Razor Shave #136 30 Same Straight Razor and Same Setup Challenge #26 Wostenholm 5/8 Full Hollow SQ PT Stirling Boar Brush. Stirling Sandalwood SS and AS Nivea ASB not pictured. I just got home and decided that my 36 hr stubble needed to be gone. Also, if I get called to work tomorrow, then that's one less thing to worry about. I decided to only strop on the leather (60 laps) and forego using the fabric. Everything went well for a 2.5 pass shave for an IBSS++ w/o nicks or irritation. Finished the shave in the usual way. I have to say that it really was a nice way to end the day. Have a nice evening, fellas.
Decadent December!!! December 8 Razor - Gillette New SC Deluxe Blade - (1) Soap - Stirling Port-Au-Prince Brush - Rooney Silvertip Post - Alum After a full day of running it was time to relax. Took my better half out to dinner for a Chinese buffet and came home to face the razors. Head shave tonight so I used my usual Merkur 23c with VDH soap and boar brush. Almost finished with the VDH soap and I'm not replacing it. It's a fine soap, but Arko works just as well and I have 10 sticks still untouched. No issues with the head shave so on to the main event. I moved on to the New SC Deluxe and paired it with a Sharp Star. Another "detente" setup if ever there was one. The SC seems a bit more aggressive than the LC and I love the weight and balance of the razor. Mutton tallow night so Port-Au-Prince with the huge, gigantic, almost comically big Rooney Silvertip. I thought I hadn't loaded it enough when I started lathering but found that by using just the tips of the brush to lather with I was able to make soooooo much lather. I mean, seriously, three passes worth and I squeezed out two handfuls after that! Fantastic lathering tool and it feels awesome as it swallows half your face at a time. Finished the shave with no issues and quiet alum. A perfect ending to my week and I'm ready for a slow day tomorrow with just a couple of things on the to-do list. Hope your Sunday was great and have a great Monday!
Decadent Citrus Sunday Godrej Lime Fresh SC Semogue 1305 boar Suribachi & cool water Gillette Fat Boy on 9 Gillette Silver Blue Osage Rub, Pinaud Lime Sec I hope everyone is shaving well, and enjoying RL. Too many takers of my time to allow a leisurely catch up around here. Didn't feel like fighting a hard soap to get my shave on, so the cream came out. Thanks to Tom @Tommynick for the easy slick and pleasant scented product. It whipped up well thanks to the brush Randy @BaylorGator pass my way. Borrowed the one use blade in a semi serious test to see if I can get more than one above the collar all over reduction. Answer? Pretty much. If I had to. Not by preference. I think I'll go back and see how those Astra SP's feel. On completion of the two or three passes, rinsed, I applied The Rub and did not enjoy it. Either I nicked myself in quite a few places, or Osage menthol feels different on my scalp with no hair. The lime went on much smoother with less burn. After using four different razors on my head, I'm thinking of going back to the Futur clone for what I recall as a close & comfortable reduction. Good Shaves Y'all!
