Another razor that doesn't get enough use is my Asylum XL. This is an excellent razor. Definitely a DECadent shave.

    Bowl/Scuttle - GP12
    Soap - Stirling Mountain Man
    Brush - ThatDarnRob 26mm
Blade - Feather HI SS (1)
    Razor - Asylum XL
Post Shave - OSMA Pierre alum, Stirling Mountain Man A/S

    Shave rating 5 of 5

I've got a lot of razors and some of my razors just don't get enough use - and my Asylum XL is one of those razors. It's really an excellent razor. Paired with a Feather blade, I received a smooth 2 pass (WTG, XTG) BBS shave with no blood letting or irritation. Typical Stirling lather, slick and a little on the wet side, provided excellent cushion for the shave. The ThatDarnRob brush has good backbone and soft tips. The alum was a little vocal on one side of my neck only. Finished up with the Mountain Man A/S.

Happy DECember and great shaves everyone.

Up today is a razor I'm using for the first time, a 1921 Gillette Bostonian. Definitely a DECadent shave.

    Bowl/Scuttle - GP12
    Soap - MWF
    Brush - Rubberset 400-3
Blade - Feather HI SS (2)
    Razor - Gillette Bostonian 1921
Post Shave - OSMA Pierre alum, Pinaud Lilac Vegetal A/S

    Shave rating 5 of 5

This razor has been sitting in its case for a while unused. Not sure why I didn't break it out for OCtober, well here it is. Paired with an almost new Feather blade and this is, surprisingly, a pretty aggressive shave. It gave me a 2 pass (WTG, XTG) BBS shave with 1 small weeper and a small amount of neck irritation. The MWF provided a nice thick, slick, lather as usual for the shave. The Rubberset 400 is a little floppy and a little like using a paint brush but I like using it once in a while. The alum was vocal on both sides of my neck. Finished up with the Veg!

Happy DECember and great shaves everyone.

    Stirling Mentholated Pre-Shave Soap
RazoRock SS DLC Lupo VS RazoRock Al Lupo
    Permasharp Stainless x2
    30DCLE brush (26mm, Frigate Class)
    Dry Dock lather bowl
    Stirling Royal soap and AS

This week I will be comparing the RazoRock SS and Al Lupo razors. Both razors are loaded with a brand new Permasharp Stainless. These razors feature a thin line profile head with positive blade exposure and a good bit of blade reveal. On the first pass I preferred the SS Lupo as the Al wanted to skip a little over the heavier beard growth. On the second and third pass I preferred the Al Lupo as it made it easier to keep a light touch. Both razors were identical in regard to blade feel and glide. I thought I would find the DLC coating on the SS Lupo to be smoothed and offer less drag but I didn't really notice any difference, of coursei had a super slick Stirling lather going. These razors are incredibly efficient. They are able to almost pull off a two pass BBS with a medium amount of blade feel. Next two shaves I will try a couple of different handles on the Al Lupo to see how it feels with a little more weight behind it. Have a great day my friends!

Smooth and efficient. That’s what the Sabre with the L2 plate brings to the table every time. Absolutely my favorite GEM razor. Great evening and shaves to all....
