    Great shave, Terry! I’ve had a similar experience with the Prolines. The first shave with a new blade is always a bit rough. I routinely palm strop a new blade, which seems to help a little. What I like are the shaves after that first one. I hate to say it, but that following shaves have been great for me. The first one is a bit tubby for me as well. See if that isn’t true for you as well.

    If this shave isn't DECADENT then I don't have a decadent shave in my den. :)
    Outstanding shave with the Gillette. This Red Tip has blade tuck, instructions in original wrap, with, "Heavy Card" from the original sale. The razor is pristine as is the rest of the kit.
    The Onyx brush is outstanding.

    The handle is made of Gold Laced Onyx, which is a member of the chalcedony family which also includes carnelian, agate, blood stone etc.

    Occurring naturally in a variety of colours, Black Onyx is polished to enhance appearance , a member of the quartz family. The name comes from the Greek word onyx which means nail of a finger or claw. Legend says that one day while Venus was sleeping Eros/Cupid cut her fingernails and left the clippings scattered on the ground. Because no part of a heavenly body can die, the gods turned them into stone which later became known as Onyx.

    Blair, you have no idea how intense this stuff is. I don’t think I’ll use the AS and soap together again! I always considered myself a bit of a menthol head, but this stuff is just off the charts!
