Did very well, I felt, in closing out the Bay Rum combo(until next time, that is). Two healthy passes-could have gone three but the two were sufficient. Saw some suds for the first time in the Jeeves Bay Rum soap. Hopefully, that will make it easier to load when I bring it out next time. I've been improving my loading skills-focusing on the "tips" of the brush and using a little strength to compensate for not being able to speed the motion. Everyone has been advising me "Load like the soap owes you money!",but I just can't go that fast. At the same time, I'd like to think I go a little faster than the "tortoise"(tortoise vs. hare). Very satisfied with the shave today. I might have said
"extremely" satisfied but for shaking the TSD A.S. a little(force of habit, as I try to LOSE the habit).

Thank you Jim. I let the number of soaps get out of hand. So I really need to finish a few.

Thank you Perry. The container is not labeled but it was more than half way when new. I think it was 5.8 oz since it’s lasting longer than the Frozen Mojitos which was 4 oz. This will be the second Stirling I’ve finished over the years.

This 12th shaving day of Decadent December will kickoff with a brief story to introduce the vintage razor selected for today’s shave. James Neill, developer and manufacturer of the famed Eclipse Red Ring Safety Razor in Sheffield, England, sent his son Fred to New York City in the 1930s to explore business opportunities. One lasting result was a contract with the 400 Company which led to the development of the Neillite 400 (Patent 1936), a Bakelite DE razor with a storied history of shaving effectiveness. The razor was designed with a mild side and an aggressive side, although both sides are highly efficient. The Stirling Glacial Obsidian soap used this morning produced an anise scented cooling, thick, protective lather with the help of my new Jayaruh Custom Boar brush. Although lighter than I’m used to, this little Bakelite razor was amazingly efficient and mowed down that lather, and delivered a surprisingly close (comparable to my Rex Ambassador at setting 5) two and a half pass face and dome BBS. Today I feel smooth, cool and refreshed. Superb shave!

    RAZOR: Neillite 400 Bakelite DE
    BLADE: Suneko
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a face and dome scrub with PAA’s Charcoal-Menthol Cube Preshave Soap
    BRUSH: Jayaruh Custom Boar
    SOAP: Stirling Glacial Obsidian
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash of dome and face with brush squeezings followed by Thayers Lavender WH and finished with Stirling Glacial Obsidian AS Splash

Largest brush for my largest diameter soap coffret, Boellis Panama 1924.
The container is so wide, I can't even keep it on my shave shelf.
How's the soap, you ask? Imagine Cella without the scent. Yes, no more scent.
The reason I liked this soap better than Cella was BECAUSE OF THE SCENT!!!!
Now, after a few years, it is 99% scent-less. :angry019:
Guess what my next "for sale" item on a B/S/T thread is going to be?
Even though the BP 1924 EdT still smells lovely, I might as well offer it up as a package deal.
Performance of the soap is still excellent. Lovely lather, very creamy and slick. No complaints in that department.
The razor today is a Swedish steel, Heljestrand.
Excellent edge, nice scales (bone) and easy to wield.
No issues getting a terrific shave.

Nice shave, Paul! I'm not sure you should think speed when "loading like it owes you money". Think longevity, changes of direction in swirling, slowly adding water, etc. Load for a long time. Fast brush swirling is not accomplishing anything in my estimation.
