Best Holiday shave greetings friends.
Been rolling along with blade sampling Artist Club style blades in my DECadent Feather DX. It will be a while before I sort out my preferences.
I will say that I like the 'guard' type blades. They work better and last longer than I anticipated.
For those who dabbled in the 'Arts of the Dark Side' with one of these tools and got 'blade binked', I can recommend these to be less punitive.
Since my open edge skillset was already in place, I cannot comment on the effectiveness of guard blades as a training tool.
The guards almost look like 'teeth' in the photo. I can assure you they are quite rounded.

For Christmas, the dearly loved estrogen units sought to present the sole intact testosterone unit with a very special gift for his hobby. This is what they came up with.

They found a local bladesmith who had made it to the finals in one of the episodes of 'Forged in Fire'.
Together they came up with an attractive piece made from a forge welded layered billet. The scaling is a milled unit piece of wood & resin. The etching reveals the layered steel and my initials.
While a personalized prize to be had, I have no intent to try to make it a shaving tool. There design differences in between a knife and a razor, this is closer to a knife in many ways. I think I've heard the term RSO (razor shaped object).
Shave on!
