Good morning and Happy New Year!

Shave four with the Enoch. Excellent shave! Three passes for near BBS. Light tickle from the alum. The blade is already starting to show its age. Just starting to get tuggy on the third pass. Binned. The next time the razor comes up in the rotation I'll go with a Schick Proline.

My bar of Stirling Preshave soap was getting difficult to use. Too small to hang onto. Over nineteen months of near daily use. Made the switch to the PAA Cube V1 this morning. Much higher level on menthol. Very nice start to my shave.

No repeat PAA has commenced. I'll be using them alphabetically due to my total lack of creativity.

Well vintage shave a day is over, and with the new year, I’ll be focusing on some of my favorite razors. I’m kicking this month off with one of me apex shavers, the Seki AS-D2. Many have stated that this razor is too mild! In the spirit of ‘Technique Trumps Tools’, I would respectfully disagree. My first few shaves with the razor led me to the same conclusion! I have since learned that the razor has a somewhat narrow sweet spot, but when dialed in correctly with a Feather blade, there is no razor I own that shaves closer! I have to say there are actually positives about this soap, and were it not for the granules,
I would rate it above average in quality.
The scent is outstanding. Myrsol knows how to create aftershaves and the Don Carlos 1972 is a winner.
The aftershave is the reason I bought the soap.
OK, now how to get rid of it
Answer: Daily usage.
Using Clint's method of loading, I created a luscious, albeit grainy, lather with the Hive.
Last shave was 12/25, so Primo had some serious stubble with which to contend.
I gave the DD some significant stropping and three passes later,
was rewarded with a wonderfully, smooth face.
Eschewing the Thayer's I went for two healthy splashes of the Myrsol.
Believe it or not, when I was finished loading, there was a large doughnut hole already at the bottom of the soap tub.

This won't take long.
Before singing off, Primo wishes everyone on TSD a healthy and happy 2020!

Kicking off the year with the razor that really kicked off my interest in straights razors. This Dovo Bismarck was the second straight razor I owned and the first nice razor I bought. I started with a Whipped Dog sight unseen special but it did not capture my interest and ultimately PIFed it.

This is the razor I recommend for someone getting started in straights. While recommend an inexpensive vintage blade due to cost I differ in that you do not know if the razor is in good shape or has hone wear etc.. I recommend this razor honed by someone who know how to put an edge on blade. It is a the Goldilocks in term of specs, 6/8 hollow grind with a round point. Easy to handle and easy to maintain. I also think spending a little more money and have shiny razor adds to the incentive to overcome the longer learning curve.

So thanks to the 30DC and this razor I am now firmly ensconced in the dark side.

Razor: PAL Injectomatic
Brush: Ever Ready 100T badger
Soap: Stirling Blu
Post: Witch hazel, Stirling Blu aftershave

Happy New Year! A good shave in the end but I had to work for it. The Injectomatic is a bit of a conundrum to me. It benefits from zero pressure but it so light that zero pressure almost doesn't work and causes skipping. But the teeniest bit of too much pressure will make it bite. @jtspartan labeled it as a meat grinder, and I agree. Two very careful passes and all is well in the end.

I know what you mean! @RyX has used his brush to whip up the pre-shave soap. I tried that once or twice with the Cube and almost just shaved with that lather. It lathers up beautifully with a brush. I just work it up with my hands but was interested in the results with a brush.

Brush: PAA The Solar Flare
Lather: PAA I Gingerbread Man
Aftershave: PAA I Gingerbread Man

The No Repeat PAA month has started, and I am going to work through the holiday type of scents early, so I Gingerbread Man got the call. This was actually my second use of this soap, as I never got around to posting my first shave. They definitely have a Gingerbread cookie type of scent but with a fair amount of vanilla to my nose. The Bay Rum kicks in on the dry down with the AS. They had a nice little surprise when I first used it a couple of weeks ago:
