  1. Lovely outdoor photo.
  2. thank you,may i call you Tim?blue is a favorite color so i like to build blue sets..no "blues"here with these kind of shaves..:)
  3. thank you Clint, after 2 days of heavy rain its really nice here today..
  4. Okay, it needs to be said: this thread is hard to keep up with--don't know how I'm going to do it once vacation ends.

    Jan 1
    • MMOC
    • Non-coated gem stainless blade (1st shave)
    • Stirling Sandpiper soap (five Frost Drops added)
    • Kong brush
    • Frost Drop enhanced Aqua Velva (blue)--love how this pairs up with the Sandpiper, btw
    • Stirling Unscented Glacial Balm
    • 2 pass shave only!
Aside from the Frost Drops, blade, and 2 pass limitation, this is the same setup I rolled with yesterday, and I ended the year pretty poorly. Lots of irritation on the upper lip and chin. I decided to get back on that horse to start the new year and it paid off: DFS and no irritation. Don't know how this will play out in the future once I get some more shaves on this blade, but for now I'm really happy with the results.

  7. Hello, gentlemen, and Happy New Year!

It's hard to believe the 30 DC is celebrating its 5th anniversary! I'm proud to say that I'm both a Charter Member and an Old Member. :D A big thanks to each of you for your friendship and for the impact you've made in my life as we journey together.

I'm in for January from the sunny Gulf coast of Florida! I'll use my Weber three-piece DE loaded with high-quality Voskhod steel, and I'll continue rotating between Stirling BOS, Mike's Hungarian Lavender, and Eufros Wet Earth soaps. I'll use either my Jayaruh Omega 10098 boar or my 30DC LE synthetic brush. Please brace yourself before you view the photo below of my very impressive travel shave (and other stuff) den! ;)

I also brought some other Stirling products along. So far, I'm enjoying the body lotion (great for dry hands), and I'll soon be working through some of the bath soaps.

I had my first Fabulous Florida shave today consisting of two easy passes on two days of growth for a near BBS shave. The 30DC LE brush whipped up the Stirling BOS soap into a super slick lather. Lunch at a nearby shrimp house consisted of gulf shrimp and red beans & rice. :eatdrink020: The weather here so far has been mostly sunny and in the 60s. It has been nice enough to spend time outside in shorts. Not a bad deal for January! :)

    :happy069:

    Have a great evening, gents!

  11. Sorry about the shave but your eating well.

Several of the dark siders on TSD own a Bismarck, all of are happy with the razor.

I agree a 5/8 is also a good size to start with, my bias is towards heavier razors as I struggle to control the lighter razors.

    Is the handle interchangeable?

My Tabac EDC mysterious disappeared, you inspired me to replace it and add the aftershave.
  12. Thanks, Joe! I hope it's a good omen for this year.

  16. Very nice shave! As for keeping up with this thread....here's my secret. (Shhhhh...don't tell anyone) I tend to browse each page when I check in for "significant posts". In other words, questions, introductions, shave reports, shenanigans. There are a lot of two or three word reply posts. "Nice shave". "Love that gear". "I agree". "Thank you (name)".Those I take note of as they pass by and if one should refer to me I stop on it. The rest get passed by until I reach something "significant". Doesn't mean I don't see them but I don't dwell on those short quick replies or worry about "liking" every one of them. Hope that makes sense. With my schedule I often only get to sit down a couple times a day to catch up so that allows me to motor through the posts since the last time I sat down.
  17. Happy New Year Charlie! Looks like you're well stocked enough to survive Florida for awhile. Stirling lotion is indeed a top-shelf product and the bath soaps can't be beat either. I'm a fan of the Pig Trail soap, made with Lard and the scent of Ozark Mountain. Mmmmm, mmmmm good. Eat some fresh seafood for me while you're there and enjoy!
  18. Have a great trip, Charlie! You travel with some serious shave volume...

  19. Thanks! And yes, a day can make all the difference ;)

Perfect sense, and takes a load off my mind :D

  20. I have always stayed away from heavy meantholated soaps for straight shaves, I will give a try when the weather turns warm.

No just a Feather Pro but a Feather Pro Super! It just doesn’t get any more aggressive than that :smiley respect:
