Well, I pray that everyone has a great year! We are going to have not so great days, but it makes us appreciate the great days that much more.

I've been off all day today and finally got off my butt and did a bit of reorganizing. The counter in my den has been wall to wall brushes, razors, soaps, mugs....you know how it goes. So, I took some time to sort and rethink. Took stuff off that I really don't use much, did the same for the shaving cabinet and reduced down to the items most likely to be called upon, or at least removed those that rarely are. The results are much better than before.

And, while I was at it, I pulled out the first of the soaps that will be used up and gone. This will take awhile as I still have a lot in a couple of these, and not so much in one or two of them. Here are the planned eliminations.

There's no reason to eliminate these other than the fact I just don't use them because I have other favorites. The Wheat State was a pickup from the first meet-up in our "please take this stuff I don't want and I'll take yours" segment. The rest were acquired through PIF's or in the case of the Old School I was asked to review it. I'm not saying I'd never use one of these again but they are taking up space with no plans to replenish. I'm also not planning to add any new soaps this year so the ones I use up will be free space.

Thanks gentlemen! I appreciate the kind words. We look forward to a nice, relaxing trip and some good shaves. The water here is soft, so the lather whips up in nothing flat. Two couples will join us later this month, each for one week. So we'll have time to ourselves and also be able to spend time with dear friends. Life is good!

This is the first time I've loaded up a tub full of shower and shave goodies for a trip. Most of the time, I travel with a minimal supplies. However, I wanted a bit of variety this time around. I plan to do the same thing for our upcoming trip to Minnesota.

Shrimp is my Bride's favorite food, so I'm sure we'll visit the shrimp house a few times while we're here. Believe it or not, my favorite place to eat here is a mom & pop Italian restaurant. I still don't know how it happened, but we arrived on Monday evening just in time for spaghetti and meatballs night. It's funny how things like that happen, considering we had driven more than 600 miles. I'll have to budget my calories and exercise wisely on this trip as we enjoy some of the local fare. Most of the time, we'll do our own cooking, so that always helps me stay on plan.

All right boys and girls, here are the official numbers from December and 2019. Think it's busy around here? You'd be right. Our total for December was 8039 posts. That's an impressive number. What's a bit different, though, is that Decadent December didn't turn into the busiest month. In fact, it's the 5th busiest for 2019. Our busiest month was September when we posted a total of 9425 times! That's also the overall record for most posts in 5 years! In August we broke the 8000 barrier for the first time and haven't dropped below since.

How about the whole year, you ask? How about a total of 91,088? That averages to 7590.67 per month. Yep. We're a busy place. In the five years we've been around we have a total of 205,391. That's an average of 41,078 over five years but our first few years were nothing like the past two have been.

I like the fact that @Edison Carter called the 30DC "the heartbeat an the water cooler of TSD". That's a great description. I also like to think of us as the center of the shaving world in any and all forums. I've never found anything quite like this or even close. And that's why I'm proud to be the chief cook and bottle washer, cat herder and "czar". You guys make this a fantastic place and this year should be just as great if not better. Seems like a lot of new guys are finding their way to TSD right now. Let's make sure they join our merry band over here so we can help those newbies learn and they'll be ready to help others. And in the meantime......try to stay out of trouble, will you? No?? Ok, that's even more fun!

Happy New Year gents! I am going to attempt to be more active in the coming year if things settle down a bit . To start off the new year , I am working on soap and blade reduction then on my 2 year anniversary on the 23rd I will switch over and repeat a 30 day rule with the same tools that I got started out on with maybe the exception of blades . Proraso , Omega, and the birthyear Gillette DE with a blade to be picked later. Been an awesome year last year and looking forward to the next 12 months of shaving. Take care fellas .

Hello strangers! I hope everyone is doing well. I’m back and hoping to be a lot more active this year.
1) My experiment of using Every Damn Razor I Own (EDRIO), combined with a Mrs. Gulch mandated No Buy 2019, and a rigid soap rotation combined to take a lot of fun out of my shaving. I didn’t get through all my razors in a year, and still have about 30 to hone before I’ve used all of them. Since o rarely have time to sit down and hone, I ended up using the same injector a lot.
2) Using a different razor every time you shave makes it a little hard to get a feel for each one.
3) While I succeeded in not buying any new shave gear, I started a new hobby, and have almost 100 pocket knives. I guess I get passionate about all kinds of things.
As a charter member who has hardly gotten to use most of his gear in the last year, I’m doing a modified rule for January. One razor, a Genco 5/8 with Rosewood scales, with touch ups if needed on a Belgian Couticle. I’ll still rotate my soaps, but stick with the 30DCLE brush. I’ll likely do more drive by posts than keeping up with this crazy thread. Missed you guys!

Yeah, pocket knives. I've stuck a toe in that rabbit hole. There are so many cool ones out there that it's hard to stop accumulating them. I just had to quit looking at them.
