Yep, last shave of the year and decade. Happy New Year to everyone! Shave #56 with the Sub Cero edge longevity test razor, performance is still excellent - nowhere close to re-finish yet. Cream was SMN lathered with a Rooney 1/3 Silvertip, and the the superb I Coloniali balm complimented the cream’s fragrance well.
6/8 Grelot WCS Pear Brrr Shoppe Omega Evo/homemade synthetic brush Just comparing some synthetic knots. I have a bunch of synthetics to sort through. Pretty nasty blizzard over the holidays. There were reports of 15 ft. snow drifts on Interstate. Did a lot of shoveling but we are finally dug out. Have a Happy New Year.
Thankfully the storm pretty much petered out by the time it hit the lakeshore here in west Michigan. The wind caused the snow to drift to about three inches
I won this Wosty Pipe in a TSD lottery and it seemed like a fitting way to close out the year and decade. It’s a top notch razor. Best wishes to all for a wonderful New Year. Kicking off the new year with my first 'pretty' straight and the razor that got me started down the path of the dark side.
First shave of the decade, Le Grelot 14 with a refreshed edge, cream and balm were AdP Colonia, with. Simpsons Keyhole 4 handling the mixology. And a fine morning it is...
Beautiful razors to start the year! A little change of pace for me... C.V. Heljestrand MK30. I can’t say this little 4/8 or 9/16 razor is going to get me to sell the larger sizes, but it sure was fun. Happy New Year and Enjoy your shave. Tom

Shave #57 on the Filly 14 Sub Cero edge longevity test. Things are getting interesting at this point gentlemen, shave 57 on the other two razors that I tested was really not very pleasant, but this edge is still smooth and performing very well. I may be in for a bit more of a test than I thought. Soap was 3P lathered with a Simpsons 58 and a bit of ABC almond balm from the travel kit (trying to use it up and refresh the travel balm) left me BDBS from an edge with almost 60 shaves on it. Wow.
Wacker TOBS Lavender homemade Maggard black syn/Evo/relofted Simpson syn. knot Nice shave this morning. Have a good one.
First shave with Snail Forge razor, she is 8/8 with a half hollow grind. Bruno but an amazing edge on her, smoooooth and very sharp.
That is a gorgeous razor. I just dont know if I would like something that wide. So far i tend to prefer 5/8 or 6/8. I do have 2 4/8 I'm trying to get shave ready to try them out. How much different is an 8/8 vs a 5/8 or 6/8. What are the benefits and drawbacks to such a wide razor.
