  1. Thanks Joe!

And...thanks also to all @30DCrew who commented on my shave post this morning. Looked much worse than it really turned out to be. Sometimes amazed at how the worst looking skin breaks barely flow any crimson at all, and the tiniest of some (as this morning), flow like the Mighty Mississippi!

I'll probably let that area rest a couple days. 99% of the time that bump handles 2 passes every morning with ease. Once every 45-60 days...it just doesn't.

  7. Thank you Joseph. Dogs are loyal are irreplaceable and become more than just a pet. I feel the pain for every owner on here that has ever posted of the loss of their beloved friend. I knew eventually my day was coming as she was failing with age in recent months. Nothing prepares one for this .

Thank you Clint. I will heal with time and the wonderful support you guys have given me .

  8. Thank you, Blair!
    Love it!

There have been a few additions since this picture was taken but it will give an idea of my madness:[IMG]

  10. I was thinking very similarly, Blair. Getting info yesterday from the thread that the original website is back up and running piqued my interest quite a bit more, though. Must mean that the 'reboot' is with full cooperation of the original owner. I'd need a Canadian vendor to distribute the product to really get me interested...the Canadian vendor that carried JOHS before is out of business now.

EDIT- didn't see @Drygulch 's post about recommending to not interpret the website as meaning Bryon's involvement until just now. Adam is more connected with Bryon that anyone on here.

  11. January 7th

    Razor: Parker Variant
    Brush: Parker Silvertip Faux Horn
    Blade: Voskhod (3)
    PS: Proraso Green
    SS & AS: Piacenza

Decided to finish a few samples. I'll probably add a jar of Piacenza to my next Stirling order, but I have a lot of samples to clear off my shelf.

The Parker bit me a couple times this morning. My lip got in the way and the corner of my mouth seemed to be a problem. I used a setting of 5 which was probably a little ambiguous for the ATG pass, but I did get a very close shave. It happens... Honestly I was in a hurry and I just wasn't paying attention. I can zoom over my face at a medium setting, but if I am going to open it up, I need to pay attention.

  12. You win. Not sure what the contest is, but you win. Looks like you could do a No Repeat B&M month as well, Jim. Stirling September is a given, too.
PS- With that collection, I'd tuck The Veg and Clubman in the back corner too...:happy088:

  15. My wife is quite supportive of my wetshaving hobby. Doesn't say anything when the brush or razor display clearly gets wider. Also has no problem with me spending a few hours here and there in the lathe room. She also never seems to make a comment as I spend time on TSD.
But, what she cannot fathom is why I take pictures of shave combos or why other people would look at them or why I look at other people's shave pics. I'll gladly take the occasional eye roll, a small price to pay.

  16. Whew...man, what a relief Jim and Jim's images are! :happy108: I'm going to have SSSSOOOO much 'restraint cred' after showing them to wifey later today......:bounce015:

In all seriousness and what's completely due to Jim and Jim though, very impressive inventory, organization skills, and varied setup. While one sits and wonders (based on what's posted every day)...y'alls collection images truly are 'Works of Shaving Art!' :happy096:

  17. Nice shave! I love the senator. Honestly, I love most vintage Gillettes, but I figure it's like my kids, if I don't say it often enough, they forget.

  18. You guys make me feel better. The highest number of soaps I ever got up to was 36. After NB19, I'm down to 25. I keep a pretty rigid rotation, and use the one I am trying to finish every other shave until it's gone. Right now it takes me about 2-3 months to get through all of my soaps, since I don't shave every day. I'm totally using this for a "see, I'm not that bad" moment with Mrs. Gulch.

BTW, nice and well organized dens!

  19. I traded a few PMs/emails with Mitchell. Gave it a good old southern try to order Tobacco Bay Leaf soap/as set two different ways over the course of 2-3 weeks. His thread or somewhere along the way made it sound like there were a few others running the business/web side of things, and the original fragrance/soap master (I forgot that name) was the one doing the mixing/soap making/etc, so the formulations would be the same. Still, it all just felt/sounded a bit off. Once I looked again at the website yesterday...looks all normal, but pricing changed second time for the worse, since starting the process.

  20. Jason, my wife is very much the same. She encourages me to have hobbies because hobbies in moderation are healthy. We agree that SOTD photos/reports are weird. No other way to think of it, but being weird is normal... or something like that.
