In my garage right now I have the makings of a forge for tempering steel. Basically just a bag of refractory cement, stuff for making a mold, and a blower. I also have a small stock of O1 tool steel. I will shave with a blade of my own making at some point. Not sure I will get there by May. However, Danny is a craftsman too. A team effort could be interesting.
For over a year the Variant/Personna Blue Lab combo was the only thing I shaved with (every month is a 30DC month for minimalist). It worked better than my previous razors, so that's all I used, but it still felt tuggy along my goatee area no matter what I did (I swear that area is like copper wire ). You may have a point, though. Perhaps sticking with a single setting for a couple weeks--really taking a close look--then doing the same thing as I gradually dial up the aggressiveness might prove informative. And I won't have to buy a bunch of new blades...
Going nuts with razors requires extra care, Charlie. I think that even @Drygulch would agree that there is more potential for harm going nuts with razors than with Osage.
madness ..what madness.its like going into your own pharmacy every morning and picking out your shave of the day..
I sorta figured that @Hembree would have fashioned a straight razor out of bush hog blade by now. That would be Atmore Awesome!
