Boy that’s the truth, but I have Gold Dollars for that! But your post made me think about how much maybe the finishing stones have to do with it. I did not hone the Cape 1000 and Filly 14 DT that both got ~65 shaves with the same stone as this one. There’s an old saying in the jnat world, ‘hard steel soft stone, soft steel hard stone’. I’ve never really found that to be true, more like ‘fine grained steel needs a fine grained stone’. The idea was to see if the Sub Cero held an edge longer (yes) but I have not eliminated the hone as a variable it seems.
I was hoping for that, but it looks like it will be more - the edge will have to go down fast, but the DT and Cape both lost quite a bit on the last 15 shaves or so. This edge has been remarkably constant for the past 30 shaves or so.
C.V. Heljestrand It does not have a model # on the reverse tang but all signs lead to a MK31... shape, size & grind are all there. And the plastic sleeve gives a clue . I figure it is a later version based on the plastic scales and sleeve. Enjoy your shave. Tom
For some reason, I keep thinking that is the most unique razor in your collection. One of a kind... who wouldn't want that! Shout out to @Snailforge for an incredible piece.
Shave #60.... Cream was AdP as was the balm and EdT. Still going, but adding 20 linen to stropping after this shave, it’s been 10 shaves since I did linen. The 16cm bowl is interesting. Usually you use a longer handled brush when bowl lathering just to keep the handle from bangin’ the sides of the bowl, but you don’t have to worry about that with the Symmetrical Pottery bowl, nor with this one, short handled brushes work well. Lots of room.

I have to agree, between the Wootz and mammoth tusk scales it is my most unique razor. I am very happy with this razor. Wow, 60! Very impressive.

My first custom a 6/8 half hollow western grind kami from Portland Razor Co. This razor is a joy to shave with, very easy to handle and easy to maintain the edge.
Clauss out of Fremont, OH Borrowed back this shave stick from my son. Now I realize why I no longer had it... wow, did this light me up. Glad it works for him. Enjoy your shave. Tom
Shave #61 on the Filly Sub Cero edge longevity test. Still going.... Soap was 3P lathered with a Simpsons Keyhole 4 and a dab of ABC almond balm finished thing up for a DFS.
