Good Morning folks. It’s Been awhile since I have visited this thread. Man, you guys have some pretty cool hardware. I was checking out some of the posts, and wow. There are some great photos there. Nice entries without them too. No matter how you cut it, there is some good stuff going on here.

So what brings me in here is I needed a nice, relaxing, enjoyable shave this morning. And I got one. Sometimes, you got to reach into the recent past, and pull it up and enjoy it.

Here at the Den, a fellow made a handle for an old E-type Schlick injector razor for me on a razor I got so cheap even I was impressed. I saw it looked pretty good, but the celluloid handle was badly broken. I mentioned it in a post somewhere here at the Den, and this fellow offered to make a nice handle for it, for me.

That is the razor I used today. And I had an amazing shave.

The handle was created out of some Birds Eye Maple he had at his homestead. It is a great looking razor now, and it performs admirably.

My prep was just a cold water rinse. The Williams Mug Shave Soap face lathered well with Jayaruh #326 Brush. I did two passes and a cleanup with the Russian SHaDE razor with a Personna Half blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Florida Water. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Still on sit down shaves, off to see consultant tomorrow to see if fracture is healing. Had not realised how inconvenient it is not to drive and perform basic tasks.

 

SOTD, Wed Jan 8th-2020, I made a blade carrier for my Enders Speed Shaver months ago and works great for the Obsolete propitiatory Enders blades with a Schick proline B-20 modern blade. Its like having a Schick injector with a open comb hybrid type razor that works well.

Razor : Enders Speed shaver with a modified Enders blade carrier- MFG 1940's -1955
Blade : Standard Schick proline B-20 (9 use)
Soap: Razorock Don Marco
Brush : Razorock Plissoft
Preshave: Yaqi Casmire shave brush my face with CerVe hand bar soap + a dollop of clear Aloe Vera gel on beard.
Prep: cold water rinse after each pass of 3
Postshave : Alum + cold water rinse.
Postshave :FINE fresh Vetiver with witch Hazel + Nivea balm
Results : CCS,DFS,BBS + alum indicated minor irritation + no weepers =

Had an inaugural shave with a "new-to-me" Schick Adjustable (M3 -- I think), and it was glorious!!! Very Comfortable and exceedingly close after 3 passes and no touch-up. I played around with the settings for each pass -- basically started at 4 for the 1st pass, moved to 5 for the 2nd pass and 6 for the final pass. My favorite of the settings so far is the 6, but I'm going to start with a 5 and finish with a 7 next go around. Injectors really are phenomenal shavers. Oh and it was Williams Wednesday, so it was a great shave all the way around.

As assumed this razor and the E5v1 are the same shaver just different color handles. Both are also assumed to be the same as the E1 as pictured here because of the same safety guard.



These razors are a bit milder than the next iteration of the E2 w/movable spring but the overall closeness of shave is about the same.

SOTD Thur-Jan-09-2020, thought I would use this Proraso Tin Packaging I received for a Christmas present as a back drop when using my Proraso. They sure know how to Package their products and that might be one of the reasons they have been so successful other than great products



Razor : Oneblade Core version 2 - Mfg 2019
Blade : Gem SS PTFE modified (6)
Soap: Proraso Red
Brush : Yaki Tuxedo knot 24mm with black marble handle.
Preshave: Brush wash the face with CeraVe hand bar soap + Proraso green preshave cream.
Prep : Cold water rinse after each pass of 3
Post shave : Proraso red with witch Hazel + Proraso green balm
Results : CCS,DFS,BBS + no irritation + no weepers=

The first shave with my newly arrived Enoch. I found it fiddly to load as the blade retaining lugs are too shallow.However, I find the Razor to be nicely weighted and very manoeuvrable so the Shave was rather good,despite it being a seated Shave. I rushed the Shave a bit at the end so get a couple of weepers on the chin. Think this may be a winner for me despite the shortcomings of loading a blade.
