I'll try to explain....this blade is an 'extra full hollow'. Super thin grind. This blade's last 1/4 inch or so before the cutting edge is thinner than a GEM PTFE blade, and more flexible. It's not as thin and flexible as a DE blade. I won't explain how to test this flexible quality...but I have (without the GEM or DE blade in a razor). You can look down the shaving edge of each, and thinnest is the DE, then Drew Dick extra full hollow, then the GEM blade being the thickest. When stropping this blade, lightest pressure....you can slightly feel the blade flex. I honed it once (Shapton Ceramic 12k), maybe 12 strokes to remove a slight deflection/ding in the cutting edge. I touched the edge with, I think a brush handle while putting things away (when doing the daily photo). Just setting this razors' blade on the stone, leveling it between spine/edge, and prepping yourself for the lightest of strokes, you can see & feel it flex before moving it for a stroke.
Thank you, Jim! It was expected of him to act like he was drunk. The comedian Foster Brooks also portrayed himself to be a lush. It was part of their act.
Thank you. Two pass shave - first pass WTG was messy, lots of misses. Second pass XTG got everything and left me DFS. - Ken
Thanks, Jason! Yes, I always put the balm over my splashes. Nivea is a light balm and it doesn't interfere with the scents. I am 64 and my skin gets dry in the winter months so I make it a habit to moisturizer my face with Nivea at the end of my shave. I am blessed with very few wrinkles and I want to keep it that way as long as possible. Lol!
Awesome image and everything as always Jim! Briar is a great fragrance. You can pick out a few other PAA undertones (Cavendish, Atmotic, etc.)....but it stands alone quite nicely without ever having been exposed to either. Nice longevity, past lunch for me. Definite repurchase. Very nice Gem shave Dale! Man....I'd be itchy 3 days in....can't imagine 2 plus weeks. Great gear and shave Ken!
