I'm gonna dedicate this shave to Brut lovers everywhere and especially to one @BigD who uses Brut in spite of the high levels of scorn from his mom that he successfully compartmentalizes as 'Joe Namath hatred'.

    PAA - Et Tu shampoo
PAA - Et Tu shave soap
Stirling High Mountain White Badger brush
Freshly honed up rescue John Jay straight

PAA - Et Tu Aftershave splash
    Genuine modern Brut deodorant

I picked this razor up for $18 when I stopped at an antique store on a whim with my oldest daughter.

It didn't look to bad to make a shaver out of and I loved the mother of pearl (probably fake) inlays on the tang.

Not much luck with 0000 steel wool and 3in1 on the rust. A very nice gearhead at the auto parts store recommended Blue Magic Metal Polish Cleaner. I don't think there is any relation to the Blue Ming, but both are successful at their jobs. What is left will need more than I'm prepared for now.

To the stones.... After I got it I worked it on a slurried coticule setting a bevel. The rust damage prompted me to go to the 1k Naniwa where I worked out all but 2 pesky little edge defects. Got them cleaned up in 3k, 5k, 8k. Moved to the 12k and was just not satisfied with what I was after. Second only to a shave test my best indicators have been using my thumb pad for feel and listening for an almost musical twang while doing so. I've been successful getting this finishing on a coticule and a coticule slurried convex ark. Worked here and did a progression on charged balsa strops.

How did it shave? I could say it challenges edges I've gotten done by some of the world's finest. Or, I could say that it is just me, Harry Home Honer finding his own edge, the way I like it. To those who contributed to my success directly or indirectly, I give you my thanks.

    The rest of the shave/shower?
While PAA hit it out of the park in the Glorious Stanks Department, the only things I will repurchase is the aftershaves. Good stuff, just not good enough for the premium.

    Have a great week folks!

  4. Et Tu is an amazing take on Brut. I think PAA's version has a more realistic natural vegetal scent. Higher quality smelling than modern Brut. It's like if a niche house took Brut as an inspiration and made a higher quality version of the scent profile.
  5. That Shave set looks amazing. I keep thinking of eventually buying a Feather AS-D2. Maybe in 6 months I'll buy one.

Back to the Enoch / guard blade tonight for a mostly effortless shave before bed. I finally got around to ordering some schick proline p30s from Japan. I can't wait to give them a try when they make it into my mailbox. Happy shaves everyone.

  17. 2020-01-13, Monday

Luckily, this month Friday the 13th falls on a Monday: we must not expect extra misfortunes, only normal ones!

To the delight of the windowphiles ... she is back, more fit than ever: a couple of days rest revived her.
Here, this morning, it seemed it had snowed: the frost covered everything: landscape is beautiful and does not present the 'side effects' of the snow.
Too bad that the sun will melt everything: but, if this is to the detriment of appearance, road safety will benefit!
Very reassuring for someone who does not plan to go out ...

I wanted almonds and the choice fell on this reliable soap with a non-invasive fragrance.
The blade did well, but at the moment I can't say that you love it unconditionally.
    The rest is routine ...
