View attachment 215321 What a morning. Got up early to see 4 inches of snow and more coming by the minute. Seems to be the theme this week from my Canuck brothers on here as well. Anyway, went out and shovelled. I was also congnizant of the fact that I needed to drive about 1 1/2 hours to a meeting and the highway would likely be awful with the blizzard, so now I was in a rush to shave and get out of Dodge.
I whipped up a decent lather and had 2 quick passes. Is the soap dead? No, of course not.... Tomorrow will mos def (Copyright Joseph) be it.... I got decent results for 2 passes, but I really do prefer the complete smoothness of 3 passes for work. Oh well.
Hit the road at 8 am for the 10am meeting and made it about 3 kilometres before I turned around. Abysmal on the highway. Got back to the office and set up getting me teleconferenced into the meeting. Then ran in to an employee from the community I was going to. I said 'you came?'. He said the road sucked but of course he came. Sitting here semi-embarassed. Looks like they'll take away my Canadian card today.

That was a great post hahaha. I have driven many times through storms as to keep my CWDC ( Canadian winter drivers card ). One year I got the Double-Double award for making the trip both ways during the storm.
Rather see you safe than get in a wreck Jason. If they threaten to take your card , I will transfer you some of my carbon credits .....I meant CWDC driving credits towards your penalty. Enjoy your day!

I used Sangre de Drago today, which is a terrific blend of Sandalwood and Agar. To me it opens with a a sawdust type of sent that quickly turns into a more powdery woodiness. There is definitely Sandalwood and Agar scents going on in this. I also get a little tobacco from this scent followed by a hint of sage, which I am not sure where this comes from as this isn't listed on the scent description. It is a lovely scent. I think this was actually purchased as PAA was rolling out the CK1 base. The shave itself was nice with two easy passes for a DFS.

We are halfway through the month, so I will post the link to the spreadsheet I have been keeping with all of these shaves. This list is ordered by my preference, although in some cases the difference between two, three, or even more spots is very small. I hope everyone has a great day!

You got right Jason. My den is full of samples and blades guys sent , not to mention the draws I've won stuff in.
When I couldn't find SE blades in Canada, John sold me one of his 100 packs . I believe he also sent me a few to try before that too. I also miss the "Shaving Butterfly ".

Felt like I needed a MMOC shave, theses things just come over me in the morning. Loaded with a new Personna GEM, didn't lose the spline but it was early, did ok anyway.
2 passes and some ATG on the neck and jaw line on the face. We'll see if that causes an issue later. The head shave was a great MMOC shave as always, 2 pass and done.

Good morning

Excellent shave to start the day! Three passes for near BBS. Nearly silent alum.

The new razor performed wonderfully. Very smooth. Very little blade feel. I'll probably do a six shave run with it before moving on to another razor.

Grove is a lovely, lovely scent. It's a seasonal but I would have no problem wearing it year around.

From the PAA website:

Scent Profile: Oakwood, Cranberry, Currant, Moss and a kiss of Apricot. A cool crisp, boozy, almost camphorous holiday accord that you will fall in love with at first sniff!

2-3 weeks for delivery is common. Ive never had to pay customs but it may be different north of the boarder.

good morning gents,thursday shave.slept in this morning.tired of weather and traffic reports and such so just shut them off,yes its crappy out,work week is a write off.so on to the fun instead and deal with work next week...so a canadian shave it is..canadian prewar tech with the early handle.platinum blade,built a great face lather with the handsome grouse mint soap and the canadian rubberset boar.fantastic 2+ combination passes with minor pick ups and a near bbs was the prize.no drama.canadian aqua velva original sport to finish..awesome..have a fine day everyone..

At least the week is going by quickly. I woke up a little under the weather this morning. On days like today, I like things that work without a lot of effort or thought. This is just that sort of lineup. The disco brush ate through the R4L and dusted off the last of soap. I had to reach for yesterday's shave stick to supplement. Three passes and touch ups caught the baby with ease. So 1 soap down for the year. I have several more that are more than half way done so the goal is to knock a few more out. I hope everyone has a great Thursday.

Much improved shave from yesterday. Everything is this combination worked like a charm. Effortless shaving, comfortable all around, etc. Really enjoyable.

I'm hitting the road in a little while to head to Montgomery, Alabama for our state music conference. I'll be there until Saturday. The Fat is going with me so I'll be good in the shaving department. Alice and Wilson are joining me tomorrow afternoon to have something to do. Should be a nice little respite away from the routine.

As I reported the last time I shaved with this one, you get a lot of suds action along the sides of the mug, so I just scrape the sides. This time, there were some that stayed on the top of the soap as well. The more the merrier! Very nice Throwback Thursday shave overall. AV Musk A.S. gave it a solid finish.

Today's start was much the usual....PAA's Tube 2.0 PS soap, then overloaded the damp Darwin badger for ~30 seconds with PAA's Cavendish CK-6 formula. Moved on to the shaving bowl, and swirled up a very nice thick & slick shiny lather, slowly adding in a good bit of water, probably a tablespoon or so. New acquisition, the polished version of the Blackland Vector, loaded with a new Feather AC Professional blade. 2 very easy intuitive passes, only a corner of a mouth weeper. Smidgeon more of hand applied lather on the lower right neck/jawline area, 2 extra swipes along the jaw line, caught the baby. Long wait on receiving the Vector from a sale back in Sept 2019, but well worth it. The Blackland Vector is super efficient, glides effortlessly with the polished cap. Polished handle is slightly slippery with wet fingers, but manageable. I absolutely love the head design on this razor. The absolute best safety razor I have at navigating under/around the nostril area. Nothing I have matches it, until I think of a couple of my straights. I'll hold off comparing to the 2 other AC style razors with regards to blade feel...want to give them a back to back go round for the best evaluation. Finished off with PAA's Star Jelly, and L'Occitane's En Provence Eav Des Bavx EdT.

This fragrance is a combination of vanilla, with dark incense, cypress, pink pepper and Tonka bean. While not directly in the family of Tobacco Vanilla, it's dangerously close to my nose.

And...had to throw 'Sting' into the image today. This is a Lord of the Rings gag gift from the girls. 7-8 years ago, when visiting Scarborough Faire, we were watching an iron forger making a sword. I joked it'd be great to have a copy of Bilbo's sword.....and then I got this letter opener mini version the following Christmas.

First run with the Shaverboy c/o Gary @brit. I have to admit that I really like this little razor. The head appears to be an EJ clone. The handle it short and very well made and I believe it is solid brass. I attached a picture of it next to my Weber Bulldog with a Yaqi head for comparison. It is a shorty but the shave was very nice. Completed three passes and I am ready for the day. The Stirling performed great as usual and a splash of SDM finished the shave.

After my great Silversmith shave yesterday, I decided to use my DLC coated SS Lupo as a point of comparison. I loaded another Polsilver blade and had at it! Wow! What can I say, but that I have some incredible DE razors. The only real difference between today and yesterday’s shave might be auditory feedback and a slight edge in smoothness for the Silversmith. The Glacial Stirling Obsidian soap and AS Splash were a wonderful complement to today’s shave. I really enjoyed the Anise scent as I shaved. But I have come to a realization. I have too many dang safety razors! It’s time to simplify. As a result, I’m instituting my usability criterion. Any modern razors I keep must be capable of both dome and face shaves. On the collection side, I will be getting rid of any duplicates that I own, and will no longer collect vintage razors made after 1950 with the exception of French razors. I have about 25-30 razors I’ll be unloading on a number of dedicated shave forums with the exception of one forum which is a shill site for the owner.
So to return to this shave, I can categorically state that this razor is a keeper as is the Silversmith. Two passes on the face and one and one half on the dome left me feeling clean, cooool, smooooth and refreshed
