January 17 SOTD: Razor: Prime Med Prep Brush: Razorock Plissoft Lather: PAA Copalli Aftershave: PAA Copalli I am in OKC this morning for a meeting, so my travel kit gets the call. I brought Copalli along, as when I bought this one, they did not seal the AS bottle properly, and a fair amount of the juice was in the box. PAA promptly sent me a full bottle to replace it, and this one gets used for traveling. The label was also messed up during this process. This is a tough scent for me to describe. There is definitely a sweetness like a burnt sugar to it that goes along with a little woodiness. There is also a resinous smell, not too different from some nice hops, but this is subtle and definitely keeps this from being too sweet. There is also a little citrus in there kind of like a tart orange that is almost like a berry. Behind all of this is a bit of a smokey impression that once again provides some nice balance. It is a nicely done scent. I did two passes with he razor for a near BBS. I hope everyone has a great day!
A most excellent shave today, with the same team as yesterday(Burma Shave Cake Soap& Aqua Velva Musk A.S.(and Cologne).. The one comment I have, which leads to a question, is that the 2nd coating of the soap led to an easier shave than the 1st. My theory is the 2nd pass doesn't combine with water as does the 1st. All water is gone after the first. Does that make sense? My face and neck feel like a clean sheet of ice(in the "smooth" persuasion, not because it's frozen). No cuts, nicks. Now, back to the tallow pucks.
Great looking travel setup, Jim! I really appreciate your scent reviews. Sent from my SM-T800 using Tapatalk
Thank you, Jim! This one is definitely more difficult for me to describe, and my guess is this one smells quite different to different people. It is interesting and complex.
Thank you Patrick. Hang in there. Spring will be here soon. Thank you Jim. Thank you Jeff. No I have way to many Feather Pros and Supers to try the Schick blades Thank you Jim and Happy Friday
I cant wait . I hope the people that complain about the heat in summer are loving this cold windy day here today.
They winter in Yuma. They bought a lot there 30 years ago. They still live in the suburbs of Vancouver. Quite common for retired Canadians to have a home in a warm US locale for the winter months. Often western Canadians go to California or Arizona and Eastern Canadians go to Florida or the Carolinas, etc. There are a metric ton of upscale 55+ RV parks as well across the Cali/Arizona desert these days full of Canucks and Americans from the northern States.
January 17th Barbasol Floating Head APShave Co Badger-Boar mix/ Resin&Sapele First Canadian Maximo Gomez Thayers Jeeves Tobacco Bay Leaf AS Switched up to the FH today and had a very nice shave. I’m quite smooth- you just need to slow down with this razor. Awesome. The only downside is that the brush lost 2 hairs again. It is only the 4th use, but that needs to end tout suite. In other news: Have a great day all!
1/17/2019 - Friday Fuzzfatabulous Shave! Yaqi Mysterious Space Two Band Badger Brush Timeless Shaving Bowl Mitchell’s Wool Fat Soap FuzzTech on Weber Bulldog Handle Feather Blade Black Tie Gentleman EDT – Dupe of Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille It is Fat Friday! Awesome shave with the FuzzTech and MWF this morning. I started the shave and noticed that the Fuzz was a little tuggy so I binned that blade and loaded a fresh one. What a difference………………………smooth. Oh yeah! The MFW is great stuff and if you have not shaved with it get you a puck. You will thank me for it. Finished it off with the Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille dup. I am out of Clubman so my wife is going to pick me up a couple bottles today . I’ll decant them to glass containers and let them set for a couple of weeks. Then there will be more good juice in the den. Hope everyone has a wonderful day and a great weekend.
Great shave, Jason! The Barbasol’s a great razor, as long as you take it slow and steady. That’s the one razor I can’t use Feather blades in.
