Life is weird--in a good way. Last Saturday, I finally came to my senses and decided that no matter how much I enjoy the scent of Baker Street, there is something in it that my skin reacts to, and it's just foolish to continue tiptoeing around the scent. A sad day, was Saturday, but inspired by Neal's
@NCoxSTL dogged use of Soap Commander, and the comments of others on this forum, I looked at the Soap Commander website to see what offerings were available. Imagine my surprise, then, when I checked the Forums only to find a PM from Perry
@PLAla saying he had a tub of Soap Commander Drive he'd like to PIF my way! Generous
and psychic. The folks here never fail to astound me. The package arrived last night (with an additional sample of Barrister Reserve's Cool shave soap--that's 2 PIF's I've been given in a week's time that were surprises that came with an
additional surprise). It's like Christmas never ended. Needless to say, I was excited to shave today!

I ran a two-pass shave, but because I was only moderately scruffy from yesterday's BBS shave (and inspired by some of Joe's remarks yesterday), I started my first pass XTG, went ATG for the second, and finished with some light touch-ups along the chin. I wasn't chasing a BBS, but got there regardless.
Soap Commander
Performance: I see why there has been so much talk about this soap. It lathers crazy-easy, is wonderfully forgiving with the water, and is black-ice slick! Palm lathering is my go-to method of lathering if I want to get things right the first time. Because this was my first time with SC, I didn't want to take any chances, but probably shouldn't have worried. The lather leaps up. Thirsty soap. When I got where I felt comfortable, I put in a bit more water just to see what would happen; it got even better. I did that a few times with the same results until I realized I'd be late for work if I played around anymore. Great shave and fantastic face feel afterwards.
Scent: this is a leather and vetiver scent. I've no prior experience with vetiver, and I really don't know where the leather ends and the vetiver begins, but man, do I like the way this smells. Understated and subtle, classy, sort of smokey, but still somehow kind of fresh. I don't know how to describe it other than Drive smells like how I
should act. Come to think of it, Drive smells how I've been telling myself I will act at the beginning of every new year for the past 25 years. I'd have named this scent Aspire.
Flare Tip:
another flawless and irritation free shave with this razor. I'm keeping this razor--end of story.
Happy Friday, folks! Have a great shave, day, and weedend
