It's hard... You know I have a special place in my for MY collection of vintage razors (SE and DE). I do have a few modern razors as well (RR GC / Jaws, Karve with several plates, Ikon B1OC deluxe and SBS, Enoch). I really dig open comb razors and when I saw this razor included an OC baseplate, I had to move a few razors to open a space.

At least the razors I sold paid for it right? That's not RAD??

    Razor - 1946-47 Gillette Aristocrat

    Soap - Soap Commander Courage

    Post - Alum

It's Saturday night. Not Friday night. I didn't make it here on Friday. Long day and night and all that. But I'm here now. On Saturday. Missed me, didn't you. Switched razors for the Gillette Aristocrat today. Oh, and I didn't shave last night so there's two days growth to deal with. A fresh Sharp Star should take care of that. The Aristocrat is an excellent razor, a bit on the mild side but still very effective. It had no trouble dealing with the two day beard once its owner got the angle right. I'm too used to the more aggressive razors now, I guess. Just takes a few strokes to dial in that perfect angle on a bit narrower gap. Still working on the Soap Commander. Ring of death growing bit by bit and the JR46 helped with that. Fine lather, better than fine razor and best blade. Results? Perfection. Have a great Sunday!!

    Saturday January 25th SOTN - Taiga #2

Well, an interesting go tonight for Taiga shave #2. I elected to try the OC plate. I started at 3.5 on my first pass and quickly moved up to 4 to increase its efficiency, followed by 4.5. It is definitely not as buttery smooth as the SB but not harsh at all either. The shaving angle is very similar. In addition, there is slight blade feel but not at all aggressive nor uncomfortable.

Again no real irritation tonight despite performing extra buffing along my jaw line. Definitely a good sign . Obviously need more shaves with it but I don't see it going anywhere. Happy shaves all.

A typical day in late January: blinding sun and mild temperatures. I'm sorry for those who love skiing: they will have to wait for June, July at the latest ...

This morning I discovered that two excellent products (the blade and the razor) are not too compatible with each other: on the Rotbart, the KAI's and green SOC's give the Kostner effect, while the Polsilver Wizamet do not.

But it has been an excellent shave anyway.
