Great collection of variations on a theme. Only one of the best Gillette ever made.

I had thought I would just be my normal unfocused self for February. I began to think after reading Andrew doing a focus and Perry using up soap. I know me thinking a very dangerous concept and one normally best avoided. So I decided why not focus on improving my skills with one razor and moving it into the favorite category while using up some soap. So in that effort I will spend at least this week with the Rex Ambassador and A&E Frozen Mojitos. Enabled by @Primotenore, I ordered a matte finished Mondial off of the bay and it finally arrived from Australia yesterday. So I decided I will alternate shaves with the brush while breaking it in. I could tell immediately the brush is made by the same folks that make Zenith brushes which should make break in short and easy. I really like the matte handle as well. The boar brush did a wonderful job loading and face lathering the Frozen Mojitos. I did have to reload before the 3rd pass. That's not unusual for me with a new boar brush. Unlike previous attempts with the Rex, I decided to load a Feather and start lower on the dial (2.5). Sticking with a traditional 3 pass shave trying to pay particular attention to maintaining the correct shave angle, I had the baby within range. After touch ups on my jawline, I started buffing my neck ended in a drama free BBS shave. Objectively one of the best shaves this week. I think I will get this razor dialed in over the next week or so. A splash of Limon and I am ready for a relaxing day. I hope everyone has a great Saturday.

Fine shave and photo, Clint! I like the matte finish on the brush as well and the Ambassador is just a cool looking razor.

Relentless pursuit of CT material. Better watch out @timabababaluka as Charlie will scrutinize your posts with a fine eye.

Thank you Perry. I honestly think it's the exact same brush I sent to you with a different handle. I guess I have a fickle relationship with boar brushes. :D I think the Ambassador looks cool as well. Up to now I have felt so so about the razor. I really want to move into the favorite side this month.

Hot water was restored yesterday late afternoon.
2019 Federal and State taxes are done and e-filed.
I am much improved from my beastly cold earlier this week.
Wilson and I got much needed hair cuts yesterday.
Been a productive day so far!

I am glad the hot water is restored. I can't even imagine being done with our taxes this soon. I will be lucky to file them by 4/15.

Drew Dick 7/8 Damascus Steel - Green Kirinite
Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements ASB - Star Jelly
Wholly Kaw AS - La Fougère Parfaite

Fun shave this morning with Wholly Kaw's previous formulation shave soap. Jason's handle with the boar brush whipped up a very nice, bowl overflowing lather with a lovely sheen. Painting on & slightly face lathering reveals a very slick & thick hydrating lather, albeit somewhat transparent compared to others, even with a hefty volume applied. The Drew Dick razor is a favorite, both in how well it holds an edge, but also with how the smiling blade so easily maneuvers while shaving. It's quite heavy compared to most straight razors, so little pressure is needed. Width of the blade makes the protracted angle judgement (@Edison Carter) a bit tough. I've found, with the many uses I've had with this razor now, that I can 'ride the blade' (first 1/4" or so behind the honed edge) and feel the cutting action changing/happening with blade angle. A very weird sensation, but it is repeatable. The blade is actually wider than the box labeling...it measures 8/8 across it's width, and is a near wedge grind. 3 passes, WTG then the 2 legs of an X for a DFS+ result. Small weeper under the nose, dispatched with the PAA Star Jelly. Finished off with WK's matching AS, La Fougère Parfait, a well made clone of Brut (the original). Comparing it to the current OTC Brut, the WK version doesn't have the alcohol forward 'bite' to it. Compared to the original (if the one I got in an estate sale rings authentic), the WK version is very close, but slightly more prominent.

Hope everyone has a wonderful Saturday!

Controversy huh? Sounds interesting. Great looking Tech, awesome image Jim! That Omega Evo.....anyone ever figure whose knot it is? Worth a transplant to a cooler handle I wonder.....

Some neat gear there Tommy! Very cool!

Learning to 'ride the blade' is one of the most satisfying skill acquisitions of the dark side....
...... matter of fact, perhaps her Highness, @Queen of Blades would consider 'ride the blade' as a CT.

One thing I love about the La Fougère Parfait AS is the elevated menthol punch.

Controversy really does look interesting. My order from A&E came in last week. I am waiting to finish up Frozen Mojitos before I try the new soap and aftershave.

Wonderful shave and picture, Clint! Love the new brush! You have already enabled me into a new brush purchase this week. I'm not going to do another. I'm not going to do another. I'm not going to do another.
Terrific picture, shave and report, Blair!
