  8. I've thought about this in relation to the others using hot lather scuttles and the various artisans or manufacturers soaps we've seen cross the 30DC so far. Keith has run into a few products that don't work, so has Jim & Andrew, not sure with Patrick's results. I did also.

I will say, for my tests so far, PAA is one of the best performing in the boiling water temperature range, very closely matching ToBS as well as Truefitt & Hill & Geo F Trumper. Coincidence that he also makes/sells scuttles? Not sure, but it's something I've pondered.

ToBS, GFT, T&H and PAA when the scuttle has boiling water in it, damp brush overloaded, 1-2 teaspoons of water (bottom of scuttle bowl), makes a very bubbly, almost heavy whipping cream consistency concoction, very thin for a lather. Transfer to the face, and the mix is instantly transformed into a lather that's peaky, lots of volume, plenty of slick cushion. Add in the warmth, it's sublime. I do get better results with boar brushes versus badgers (which tend to hog the lather a bit). Keith and Jim may have enabled me to get an electric kettle for the bathroom to save a bit of time. Currently, I have to go to the kitchen, retrieve the water off the stove which adds a little time.

When you aren't pressed for time, it's 50 degrees or less out.....a hot scuttle shave is a real treat!
