    Straight Razor Saturday

    Razor: Dovo Inox
Brush: Maggard 24mm Silvertip set in Aluminum
    PS: Proraso Red
    SS: MWF
    AS: Proraso Red

Happy Saturday everyone. I had an okay Saturday morning shave. The Dovo did great but I couldn't get the feel right. 3 pass shave with 1 tiny weeper with a DFS finish. I got a little close on my neck and I am certain there will be irritation later.

Yesterday I used the RedTip again for a BBS finish. The MWF is going strong with no signs of stopping.

Also I heard from the Spanish company I ordered European AV from. They are out of stock and advised me it will be several more weeks. They sell it cheap so I will just leave the order open. Perhaps I will have lots to share around Christmas.
  2. Thank you Tim. Luckily I never get irritation. For example, I kept a single edge disposable razor in my front BDU pocket while in the Army. When I got bored and couldn't smoke, I would run it across my face dry or with the sweat just to pass the time. My touch ups and buffing are generally done with rubbing a wet hand across the area and then shaving.
  3. Fantastic shave, Evan!

  4. Wow, that's amazing, and you are approximately 700 miles to the south. We haven't had any snow in weeks. And when we get it, it melts within a day. I sure wouldn't want to be on a snowy highway in your neck of the woods with folk who don't know how to drive in snow.

  5. Somewhere along the way, the idea that you can give someone self respect or self worth became part of the mainstream. I can give someone the opportunity to earn those things but I can not gift them. As you said, people need to work through issues and learn to grow from them. Other big pet peeve for me, is the participation trophy. Life has winners and losers. The sooner people understand that, the better they will be. I have found in my years, that the winner is not necessarily the brightest, strongest or smartest, but is often the one that will not quit until the goal is reached.
  6. Thanks, Perry. I have to be particularly careful of the corners of my mouth in all directions. I have the equivalent of a cow-lick at both corners of my mouth--it's like looking at the whorls of a fingerprint. You are onto something, though. One direction is bound to be safer than the others. And now I know which direction the MMOC dislikes.

Think I'll take the Thomas Edison attitude on this: I haven't failed; I've learned 10,000 things the MMOC dislikes ;)
  7. No, I don't want to drive with these fools in the snow. It should turn to rain later this afternoon and wash away.
  8. Thank you, Perry!
Terrific shave and picture, Clint! Glad to hear you're getting the Ambassador dialed in.
    Thanks, Jeff!

  9. I'm actually having a bit of fun with the 'Dead Is Dead' shaving, and it is an inducement to be a little more cautious the next time round. :D
  10. Love that gorgeous B&W image! Wow. sounds like 5 worked well for you!. I'm going to start at 2 and try to work my way up when I get my Rex back form RE.

  11. The MMOC is a beast for sure so I wouldn't be to hard on myself. Do you skin stretch while shaving the difficult areas around your mouth. If not give it a try and see if that helps.
  12. Thank you Perry.

  13. Straight shave!!! Any straight razor shave you can walk away from is a good one as far as I'm concerned. That handle... still geeking out :D

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, Evan :)
  14. I forgot all about that! It's... it's like... a super power! ;)

  15. The Ambassador is a different razor for me and is taking a little time. Did you do a 30 day rule with the RA? I am thinking about staying Ambassador for the remainder of the month.
  16. If I get razor burn that shows up, then I have really peeled off the top layer of skin.

  18. Great report, Tim. Here's to tomorrow's shave.
Thanks, Tim! The brush is a beauty.
I think the Noble Otter name and labels are meant to be whimsical.

  19. Thank you Jeff. I am determined to get the Rex dialed in.

  20. I do stretch it out, but it makes the corner a little concave (which, come to think of it, might be a source of trouble). Next time I'll stick my tongue in that area and see if I can't flatten it out a little better--thanks for the tip :D
