  1. Thanks Tim!. Ha, I like straight razor shaves for the extreme close finish and coolness. Yes, I do shave with a straight because it's manly. Now that I am getting better with my agressive safety razors, there isn't as much of a difference in closeness anymore.

The Dovo Inox is one of the best razors for the novice and I also think the olivewood handle is awesome.
  2. Thanks, Joe!

    Baume.Be.~~Simpson "The Hive"~~Heiljestrand MK 32~~Floïd Blue
Back home and back on track with this month's focus.
I have been experimenting with different stropping routines.
Today, I started with the untreated linen strop, followed by canvas? (I am not sure what the technical
name of the "fire hose" material), followed by felt and lastly with my Savin 2" leather.
The Savin is very slick with very little draw.
Bowl-lathered the Baume.be with the Hive and created a fairly wet lather.
There is an air of marigold which is quite appealing.
Excellent shave with the Swedish steel.
I asked Dr. Mrs. Primo to choose my post-shave scent and her response was: "Something savory
not sweet". Now wishing to take any chances, I reached for the ever-popular Floïd Blue.

    But wait for it...
Drove into the big city to see my niece, in from Connecticut; gave the sister-in-law
a hug and...yup: "You smell really good!"

  7. I just blow out my cheeks to shave my cheeks and the corner of my mouth. Doing this will stretch and flatten it.
  8. I agree. My very first traditional straight was my Dovo Special 5/8 round point. I am a real fan of Dovo razors.

  11. Great shave, and super thrilled to see the granite countertop again. That's a beautiful razor. Also, your experiences have sealed the deal. I may not have access to Floid Blue, but I'm going to get something pretty darned close to it--you don't get better testimonials than a twofer ;)
  12. With me, I somehow have the presence of mind to realize RIGHT AWAY when I do something like the "dry-face" soap shave, I'm doing something wrong.

  14. Stunning. It's like that Gold Flare Tip is shining... from the inside. That's some serious photography voodoo (or a heavenly razor--you choose). A 2 pass BBS is also incredibly impressive ;)
