Guys, thanks for the kind words. Joseph's post struck a chord with me.
Jeff, I bet you have some great stories to tell. I would love to hear them sometime. I'll try to remember not to text your Gkids when they're with Gpop!
Thanks Joseph. It's good folks like you helping out dear friends in need and pouring into students' lives that really make a difference. I'm willing to bet that you mean a lot more to your students than you can ever imagine.
I agree that we are surrounded here by gents here with fantastic stories. I'm thankful you guys keep me around.
Another cocktail, please.
Thanks Jim. They're slow cooking now. If all goes according to plan, we'll have them after the Louisville-Virginia game.
Thanks Gary. I'd love to hear more about your story too. You took an interest developed in your teen years and built it into a successful business. It's cool to hear that your Dad and his friends got you started. My Dad actually taught the masonry trade to brothers, nephews, and friends. "Just enough" of it rubbed off on me too. I'd say he taught 20 guys how to make a good living during his lifetime. I bet you could tell a similar story about yourself and your Dad.
My mechanical ability (ahem) is very light.

A buddy and I purchased cheap bikes at yard sales, gave 'em a spa treatment, and sold them at a profit. We hit the local home improvement center every week, purchased mowers that had been traded in, and did the same thing with them. We could turn a couple of mowers or bikes a week during the summer. After a while you figured out which mowers and bikes could be turned with the least amount of effort. We even brought an old Honda CB 175 back to life once. It lived for another three months before it croaked again. Too bad we didn't know
@NCoxSTL in those days. He could have run the sales and logistics side of the business while we focused on operations.
