Thank you, Jeff. Glen @gssixgun acquired these bone scales and hooked me up with this most excellent razor.

Excellent post, Bill. While I only own one "replaceable blade shaver", and therefore have never compared it to another, doesn't it really come down to the blade itself, whether or not the tool facilitates a great shave? (Assuming all tools are capable of hold the blade evenly and securely)

When I was a :whacky024: in the professional kitchen, I was dicing peppers and took the tip off of my left ring finger...:shocked029::sick007: damn near passed out. The Sous Chef, at the time, sat me down in his office, put about 100# of pressure on the wound and sprayed it with some coagulating agent, which came out like liquid nitrogen :shocked003:. It, of course eventually healed and to this day, when I am wielding a kitchen knife, I pay particular attention to that same finger, as I still have the tendency to let it creep forward...
Again, I hope you heal quickly, Jeff.

After using my first shavette, I questioned if there were differences to be found in other styles.

I found there were, but all produce comparable end result with fresh steel.

I am now enjoying the diversity in Artist Club type blades. Tryablade.com has sampler packs with 1 of ea of 10.

Thanks, Joseph! I hoping that mine will heal without the need of a graft. I was also dicing a pepper when the injury occurred. I finished the dish next day, Gnocchi with Braciola alla Barese. I'm immunosuppressed because of medicine I take for Rheumatoid Arthritis, so I also am on antibiotics. At least I can shave with no issues, just takes a bit longer.

Split-second accuracy is required during precision missions. Every budding chemical engineer specializing in commode operations knows that you can't depend on your phone or smart watch when seconds count. An alibi and the ability to look innocent or at least confused comes in handy too.

First shave since Thursday and it was pretty good. A tiny weeper from blade buffing along the jaw line was the only negative to this mostly BBS 2 pass shave.

    Enjoy your day.

I struggled with a design or two early in my career.
    1.jpg

But I finally managed to work on some high-profile projects.
    2.jpg

Things were going well at Spacely Sprockets until some wildcat investor group came in and shook things up. I finally landed at Cogswell Cogs and have been happy ever since. I'll probably remain in Orbit City after retirement now that we can get ice cream here.

Day nine of Wool Fat February continued with a new record for me. This is my fourth bloodless BBS with no irritation or heat revealed by the alum block. I hate to say it, but I think I’ve found my Grail razor! Please don’t tell SWMBO, but I definitely have divided affections! Probably just a short term fling, but who knows?

Things proceeded as usual, with a cold water rinse followed by a good scrub with the PAA Preshave Cube soap, although it hasn’t been a cube for months, on this beautiful sunny day in the Philly suburbs. My faithful dachshund buddy, Gromit, parked himself on the stool on SWMBO’s side of the bathroom to observe. The Viking brush whipped up the initial MWF paste which was then face and head lathered to its usual thick yogurty consistency with ample application of hot water via the brush. I was on the second and final use of the second Wizamet blade in the razor. I routinely discard my blades after two shaves.

Part of me was hoping for blood, but on that first WTG pass, this incredible razor swept away those whiskers like the Romans through the Sabine women, shearing them right down to the skin line. Using the LaResche on that first pass, felt as though I was shaving without a blade. Be still my heart! It left very slight roughness around the troublesome Adam’s Apple and just a bit in the middle of the back of the head. The shave could easily pass the cotton test everywhere else. My second pass, if you could call it that, consisted of relathering those two areas and buffing away the roughness. One and a half passes and Madame LaResche delivered a complete bloodless BBS for the fourth time in a row! Fine Accoutrements Snake Bite AS Splash revealed a very slight sting in the buffed areas and left me feeling clean, cool, refreshed and in love! Please don’t tell SWMBO!

    RAZOR: LaResche 51 Luxe
    BLADE: Wizamet Super Iridium
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a scrub with PAA’s Cube Preshave Soap
    BRUSH: Viking Silvertip Badger
    SOAP: Mitchell’s Wool Fat
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by Thayers Lavender WH and finished with Fine Accoutrements Snake Bite AS Splash

Tim, after some time working on your technique - and especially after your shavette focus - you'll get consistently great shaves using any razor. :happy088:

Designing Golden Toilet Seats!! No wonder you can afford your watch hobby! Sitting on top of the world and enjoying ice cream at the same time! Wow! I bet one doesn’t even need TP in those fancy water closets you design! Built right in!

    Good morning everyone.
    A great Sunday morning.
Got a different razor in the mail yesterday. A French Globetrotter, looked nasty, took some serious cleaning to get it so I could use it. Still needs attention to make it look good, but no biggie. No blades I have will fit it. Sooooooo, I cut a B-30 blade to fit by cutting off the ends. Looks like it can take a cut down Feather Pro too, thats for later.
So using a different soap the came in the handle package from Jim @Jayaruh. Good lather, good slickness, but my nose is to clogged up to describe the scent, it fit great in one of my OS mugs.
The razor looks mean and grouchy, but shaves like a dream. With a B-30 blade, smooth sailing all the way. A clean smooth shave ready to go.
20200209_083155.jpg You can see the what I used for the rest of the work.
Nice razor if ya don't mind cutting a blade to fit.
    Edit!
    Sorry that's a P-30 blade.
    Well....
    all
    enjoy

We designed the solid gold model for @BaylorGator's corporate office. We suggested a less expensive model, but it didn't sit right with him. Livin' large in South Florida is a thing.
