  2. Hadn't visited that track. The bruised knees and elbows...definitely a sign of not being held in the seat well. Street Car.... But, a lot of fun was had!

If you go again (you should!)....the seat belt trick helps. If you aren't going to do track driving as a hobby, then just stick with that. All the other contraptions, 4 point harnesses, race seats, 6 point harnesses, etc. just aren't worth it for a street car.

So...you move the seat back a few notches, put the seat belt on, taking up all the available slack, then a quick forward movement of the belt will lock it in about a 1/2 inch, then move the seat to your normal driving position while holding the seat belt locked. May take a couple tries to get it 'just so', otherwise it's so tight you can't breathe, or too loose (as normal).
  3. Fantastic advice and simile, Blair. Just gotta learn to internalize it. I might also incorporate the "breathe" note. Which reminds me of a song from almost 20 years ago...

Between "Pressure Drop" and this, I just might have to start compiling a shaving playlist to keep myself relaxed... along with ten or twenty sticky notes ;)

  5. I couldn't bring myself to abusing my car like that. I gave it serious thought, even bought a helmet but decided against it.
  6. Thanks Blair!

  14. Envision 'a plethora of beer and cigar stories'.....on this very subject across weekends spanning years of: 'Race It. Break It. Fix It. Repeat.' Me and a few buddies would do someone's car one day, someone else's next, doing your own sometime in between. Then.....off to the track for play. Repeat.....

Racer's Mantra....It is ALWAYS less expensive to buy someone else's race(car/bike other other go fast toy), than to convert your own or build one.

Usually all you have to do with buying someone else's toy (if you do the homework) is find & install a seat to fit....everything else you were going to do to a street car anyway.
