Well, once in awhile things don't go quite right. Kind of like the Blues are playing hockey right now. They know the drill. They know they can and should play tight defense. They need to play heavy hocky. Yet, they're in a slump. So it goes in Cartel shave land at the moment. I wouldn't say I'm in a slump, but this shave took a turn in the wrong direction. Part of it may be timing. I actually shaved earlier than normal yesterday. As in around 2 pm. So, by the time I shaved tonight I'm coming up on about 32 hours between shaves rather than the usual 24 or so. Maybe the Sharp Star is losing its edge earlier than most. That's a possibility, though a slight one. All I know for sure is it felt a bit rough when I started and I tried adjusting the angle and somehow never found it. Add to the fact that I started adding pressure as I struggled with the angle and.....trust me.....the Muhle R41 kicks like a Missouri mule when you try to force it into acting right. Pressure is a huge no-no, as my red and burning face will attest. I'm happy to say I didn't draw any blood, but the fire from the alum made me wish I had. It would be less painful. Even with the slick Soap Commander this shave wasn't much fun.

I did find as I went that once I got the angle back on target the shave would smooth out. Still not as smooth as I'd expect, but still smooth. But, I found it impossible to hold the angle, and a lot of that was due to me pressing down to try and hold it. Sometimes technique just won't dial in, I suppose. That's ok. I survived to shave another day. Just wish I could have had this loss of technique control with a bit milder razor.

Hope you had a great Tuesday!! And I hope you have an even better Hump Day!!

    Have A Great Day! DSCF4450.JPG
  11. Well the flu is still raging away but today’s shave brought some respite. I have been enjoying the Colonial General SS SE for the last little while and though it is in my travel kit I packed the iKon El Jefe also. Well today the Boss took over. Schick ProLine blade and off we went.

Soap of the day was Ariana & Evans Cafe au Lait. I am surprised I only have one of their soaps because it really is great. Thirsty but a great soap. The scent is all coffee and chocolate and the matching AS just finishes it off nicely. Great skin food in this one. Just might revisit it for Valentines Day.

A very nice and easy two pass DFS achieved. The General is still Boss in my books but this was a great shave.

    Happy Wednesday all!

    Cold Water Rinse
    Williams Mug Soap
    Oscar11 synthetic
    The ALUMI-TAR by Tom
    Gillette Silver Blue
    CWS
    PSC Caffeinated After Shave Balm

The Williams Mug Soap face-lathered well with the Oscar11 synthetic brush. Two passes and touch ups with The ALUMI-TAR by Tom razor with a Gillette Silver Blue DE blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. I did the right side of my face on 4 and the left on 5. I did the second pass and touch ups on 6. All settings worked great. After a cold water rinse I finished off with PSC Caffeinated After Shave Balm. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

  16. Wednesday morning:

    Razorock Plissoft 26mm Monster
    Super Speed/Derby day 5
    Bundubeard Klipspringer’s Kick SS
    Prep ASB
    Aqua Velva Sport AS Splash
    Bleu de Chanel EdP

It sure felt great to get some menthol on my face this morning - as I’ve said many times, the Klipspringer is supposed to be the mildest of Jaco’s “Kick” series but it’s actually not mild at all - in fact it’s a good deal colder than Proraso Green and a lot of other menthol soaps. I enjoyed the rich, thick, slick coffee/peppermint scented lather and the postshave feeling was so soothing. There’s nothing like a good massage with the Prep after a shave and a couple of splashes of the Aqua Velva Sport to finish off. Three delightful passes knocked off all that tough stubble and left me as smooth as a glass table top![IMG]
