I'd seen it mentioned but didn't pay any mind until it happened to me. For some time, YouTube has been randomly jerking around viewer's channels. You log in to find that a channel (or several) that you enjoy is Unsubscribed, while some nonsense of no interest to you is now in your list of subscriptions. I've now had two channels disappear on me, forcing me to resubscribe, and nonsense I never came close to searching for show up as Subscribed. Apparently, GoogleTube Has reached the point where they strongly suggest [force] what you watch and don't watch, regardless of what you may think about it. Anyone else seen it happen?
I haven't noticed anything happening with my subscriptions. I get tons of video suggestions on the main YouTube page these days, though. You don't suppose someone is watching us?
The only time I've used Youtube on a consistent level is to listen to favorite songs. A few of them have "disappeared".
I haven't noticed my subscriptions disappearing, but did notice bizarre subscriptions I'd never watch. I soon found out that both of my daughters were attached to my YouTube account. Sent from my SM-N975U using Tapatalk
I haven't had any subscribed channels disappearing either. The "suggested" videos are pretty random and oftentimes, bizarre.
The two that I've seen drop off are the only channels I watch that are...how to put this...outside the pale of the Googlearchy's sociopolitical leanings. All else is politically neutral. Coincidence, you say? Well, as they are the only ones that ever auto-unsubscribed on me, so I must suspect deliberate tinkering by some drone in the bowels of Minitrue.
Checked this morning, now there's a channel with a video of a nearly naked woman dancing to ZZ Top. Not something I subscribed to, not my style. Could be an out-of-control algorithm, but that doesn't explain channels spontaneously unsubscribing.
For me, the term 'software engineering' is more of an oxymoron than an actual, accredited engineering field, and maybe what's happening with Boeing will finally get people to wake up to this fact.
