    That is a beautiful razor.

Is there a post your japanese straights thread here.

It’s always been a bit of a finicky one, sometimes it takes a killer edge, other times, not so much. I need to review my notes and see if I can tell what it likes.

I appreciate the tips, the only natural I have is Zulu Grey. This razors are more trouble than they are worth to me, I think its time to thin the den. I just do not hone enough nor enjoy honing enough to become proficient on this difficult razors. I like the razor that just hone up easy and quick on my synthetics.

I do struggle with wedges and near wedges, no problem honing 3/4 hollows.

Splash then after it dries I apply balm.

Wednesday: Fresh of a touch up this Koraat is sharp and smooth again.

Thursday: This razor continues to be laser sharp, I find my Riga Razors both take exceptionally sharp edges and hold them.

This Torrey “Our 136” is a sweet shaver! Today was my 23 consecutive shave with a straight razor and it seems like my technique is really starting to improve. A slightly closer shave with slightly less irritation each day. Couple it with good prep and a sharp edge and today’s shave was nearly perfect.

Maybe that explains my Manaslu M-55 sometimes not getting that superb edge — it’s too damn finicky! Good to know it’s not my fault or anything. ;)

I’ve got a pair of M-55s, maybe I’ll get them out for a spin. I don’t recall them being that finicky though.

Today was shave #77 for the Filly 14 Sub Cero, soap was another discontinued one, ABC hard soap. The hippie brush did the lathering duty and I Coloniali Rhubarb finished up a DFS+ shave. The edge is stable it seems.

I do not always have the time to shave with a straight razor, when I have it is a joy.

A few strokes with the universal shavette to try it.

The main course was with the Leresche 7/8 damast blade. The damast blades can be scaredly sharp.

Soap was MWF and aftershave Irisch Moos.[IMG]

ME Rappenhagen Diamondine this morning turned out a pretty good shave. I broke out the GP Scuttle because my bathroom seemed extra cold today. Spring has been teasing for the last few days, but today was a reminder that it’s still only February!

User grade King Pelican 14, cream was AoS sandalwood lathered with a Keyhole 3, and a splash of Myrsol Agua Balsamica finished up along with a spritz of Floris Santal from the travel gear. Nothing user grade about the shave though, a King Pelican always delivers the baby dolphin butt. Hail to the king baby!

Brush- C-MON A-4. Vintage Handle and knot.

Mastro Livi Gifretto - she always takes a smooth edge. Some vintage Old Spice shaving soap, great stuff even though it lost its scent.

Very Nice Sir!!! But do you find the brush very soft to use, I know I do with mine but still makes a wicked lather.

The Old Spice Soap still outperforms most of the modern soaps of today, sadly I only have 2 pucks left so it gets an outing once in a while.

The Arko Shave Soap face-lathered well with the Jayaruh #375 synthetic brush. Two passes and touch ups with the Joseph Elliot Wedge 6/8 gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Pinaud Clubman AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

The brush is amazingly soft. I really like it for bowl lathering. It does not have the backbone of the 2band or even the SHD HMW that I have. I have a feeling it's going to make a killer lather when I use it in the collapsible slow feeder bowl. I have found the brushes that are not super dense make a killer lather in the slow feeder bowls (the new stirling collapsible bowl)
