New battery in this old beater and shes ready for work again. The nightlight quit but it still tells time .
Just a small rant/discussion re dive watches. First off, they are water proof. Unless you never get out of the house or bathe, a dive watch is not required. That said, the mechanical timer ring is so practical. No, a dive watch will not record your nocturnal movements. but it will tell you what time it is with an easily readable dial even with your eyeglasses off.
Just today on the bay I found something I kind of been looking for but not very hard, as I didn't think it would ever come up: a vintage khaki version of my thin 1960s black NATO, in 17mm, which is the size of the Benrus above and my Caravelle. I do not know this seller (he's in Canada) but if anybody's interested the listing shows he has a box full of them, with nickel and gold tone buckles. For the quality, weight, and comfort, it's well worth it around $15 bucks shipped.
My father used to buy those straps for his caravelle in the 70s . Will cost me 20 bucks for one and I'm only 1 province away from this seller . Postal rates are ridiculous here now .
A lesion learned, my Khaki Automatic stopped working because I never had it serviced. I didn't realize I needed to. That's why I now use this.
