Hello all, I would like to know everyone’s choice for razor blades? I’m not sure what brand to purchase other than Rockwell blades.

I always recommend Astra SP's when asked by new wetshavers. Quality blade at a great price.

    First welcome from West Tennessee..
Any of the blades I have listed, never had a problem with any of them. I'am sure there will be others to recommend blades to you, get some sample blades and try them for yourself. [IMG]

What do all the numbers in brackets mean? Thank you!

My preferred blade is a Bic Chrome Platinum. If you decide to buy some make sure it is from a reputable vendor since there are counterfeits out there for these blades.

The numbers are how many blades I have of that brand.

I use Astra SP mostly. They seem to work well in all my razors. I also like wilkinson sword classic and Nacet. I have tried several kinds but keep coming back to the Astra SP. I will in the future try more.

This is my minimal experience with different blade systems and this might help you. Welcome to the shave Den.

Definitely another vote here for Personna Lab, Astra SP, and I'm going to be the odd one out and recommend Supermax Blue Diamond. Great blade at a great price (price is on par with Personna blue at around $10 per 100)

I've been tossing over in my mind how to come up with a way to keep a fairly accurate accounting of blades with the brand, description, beginning, and current stock levels. I know just enough Excel to come up with a basic spreadsheet. Seeing this, I'm curious as to how you keep track of yours since you seem to have a good handle on it?

I don't really keep track of my blades, I have enough blades to last me for the rest of my life.
But every 3 to 4 months I take all my blades into the kitchen dump them out on the table a count them.
    Full tucks and loose blades.
I do this out of bordem, being retired this hobby keeps me busy, between shaving every day, reading the shaving forums and rearranging my shaving gear once in a while and counting blades bottom line is don't get old. [IMG][IMG]

I've been wet shaving for just a tad over 2 years.
I started with the normal type blades most suggested here.
Found shark and dorco worked ok.
As my technique improved, so did my choice of steel.
I switched to feathers then went to one and done, using only a new blade when shaving.
Get some blades that work well, then hone your technique with those blades.
No matter what blade you use, your technique is what will matter more so than the type of steel.
1 type of blade, the same razor, the same shaving cream/soap and after shave.
Do it for 30 days, your shaves will be better.
    Light touch, ride the cap.

    Good luck!

I too, find Russian blades preferable. Astra SP, Iridium, Sputnik, etc.

Gillette Silver Blues and Feathers are pretty good too, though the premium prices for those don't justify the marginally sharper blades. Imo.
